AMD needs to stop this. The silence and lack of communication is absolutely horrendous at this point. Get on it AMD Radeon group... This is fracking BS to not be talking about this so people have some idea of what's going on. And FFS... take the damn win and bring FSR4 INT8 officially already.

An Optiscaler preview build brings FSR4 on Vulkan ability.

(keep reading below... this isn't really worth getting hyped about)

The long short here is the newer preview builds, which they haven't made available on the official GitHub for Optiscaler yet, allows for Optiscaler to wrap Vulkan to DX12. Doing this lets it use FSR4 (and works with the FSR4 INT8 leak) in Vulkan games. Be forewarned however.... while this is cool it currently has a hell of a performance hit. Usually making it a good chunk slower than native.

The video below demos how this is done with Doom Eternal on a Radeon 7800XT. The performance hit for this game is kinda massive and may not be as large with other games.

In abit of surprise... it appears that FSR 4 manages to outpace both DLSS4 and DLSS 4.1 in Resident Evil Requiem.

(note site is in German, so browser translation may be required)

Not all roses however, as for whatever reason this nVidia sponsored title locks the Pathtracing option to being nVidia only :rolleyes:
 
I wonder if INT8 will play nice with the game. When it works properly it looks super nice on my 7900XTX.
 
Seems to work like a charm. Just replaced the upscaling DLL in the game folder with the INT8 version. Game looks and runs great so far with all settings maxed.
 

Taking a peak at using the Optiscaler Vulkan to DX12 wrap method with FSR4 INT8.

Hopefully I'll have some time this weekend and will be able to give it a spin and see how it works out for myself on my 7900XTX

Yeah Kepler_L2 is pretty sure the new stuff coming from this will be RDNA5 exclusive.

I don't know who is it making a decisions like this for the Radeon Group or who is controlling messaging right now... but, and I'm going to be blunt, it needs to damn well change. FSR4 INT8 needs to be rolled out officially and this up coming tech needs to have proper broad support across GPU generations. In short, AMD/Radeon group needs to stop screwing around.

One guy said on reddit that its FP4 for the next gen and the 9000's only do FP8 in HW. Can still do Int 4 I think as the 7000's do Int 8 with the leaked driver with Optiscaler so its another why not just do Int 4 as a fallback for the 9000's or even the earlier generations... Its a long way before we get to see Navi5 but if they enabled Int 8 soon it would reassure a lot of folk in the community going forward.
 
DLSS-RR to FSR-RR looking kinda cool. This is done using a forked version of Optiscaler by a user named "DarkHelmet" from the Optiscaler Discord. WCCftech's article about using it in Cyberpunk also includes instructions for anyone who may want to try it.


Another user on reddit also appears to have made it work with RE9.

I think the whole story about Sony fearing the Steam Machine more than Xbox starts to make sense... maybe they dont want Int8 on pc as it could be used by Valve on its Steam Machine?

I've had that thought as well. Maybe they can't release it do to an agreement with Sony. That might make some sense... although man would I love to just hear that. Because the whole just staying silent after the INT8 leak is hyper annoying and is just feeding allot shit flinging.

Ya its the silence that hurts but would be nice for them to address the other rumor as well that due to such IP they are making an FP8 version for RDNA2 and 3.
 
So the good FSR for older RDNA might be exclusive to playstation? They cant possibly hold onto it for the entire lifespan of the console can they?
