That daily game progress thread...

Currently playing Cocoon and DOOM 1.

Also installed Jusant, and may try Jedi Survivor, Deathloop, Far Cry 6 and Wolfenstein 2.

My wife got a new tv (The Frame) which comes with the Xbox streaming app, so I got myself a month of Game Pass to try a bunch of stuff. Works alright on the tv, though I still prefer gaming on PC by far. Never was a living room gamer, probably never will be.

Hold off on playing jedi survivor, EA is going to release a patch that is finally going to address the performance issues for real later this month.

Finished Cocoon. The puzzles are okay - some are nice, most are straight forward. The art direction is stunning, the game plays smoothly. Storywise, there's not much there - the ending says something about the universe the game is set in, but that's about all there is to it. It gave me the sense that I had no idea who I was, what I was doing, what my end goal was... It felt like a game without purpose, just going through the motions of solving puzzles as a way forward.

DOOM 1... Playing this latest version through Gamepass, with an Xbox One Series controller, is a smooth, son-of-a-bitch experience. However, I've got to question my life's choices a bit, that I'm paying for a month's worth of Gamepass, and spending it on a 30 year old game I've played a million times over and could probably be playing for free outside of Gamepass within five minutes.

Still... Just gunning through a level... Still some of the smoothest gameplay known to man.

Fallout 4 and Horizon Forbidden West. Also started Those who remain which is a POS game.

Finished DOOM 1's original three Episodes. Technically that's the end of the first game and I think that's enough DOOM for a while.

I've been playing some of the BFG edition of Doom 3, figured I'd give it a go since the last time I played doom 3 I had a 3dvision TN-panel so O did not exactly have the greatest blacks on that monitor.

And I never finished the BFG version so I will be removing an unfinished game from the backlog.

Well, two games, since expansions counts as a game in the completion thread.

Finished the BFG version of Doom 3, it is still a good game despite the weirdness of the shotgun, the thing is REALLY powerful, but you basically have to treat it as a melee weapon.

The BFG version of doom 3 is a big weird though, they must have increased the ammo drops or something, you are literally swimming in ammo 24/7.

Oh well, I guess it time to start playing the BFG version of the expansion.

I'm playing more of the Chinese first-person FMV romance sims because I can't get enough of them. Sadly many of them are not translated into English which seems like it would be a trivial matter with chatgpt and others.

Secrets of the Heartbeat was unfortunately the worst one so far, but not a bad game. Very short (1 hr) and the story is pretty stupid, with a few unnecessary gratuitous shots for titillation. Translation is quite bad in places, "stomach on the ship" is literally one choice which I don't even know what it's suppose to mean. That said, still mildly enjoyable and there a few hours of side content to see, plus a few unlocks.

Finished Charming Hearts. Probably the best of these types of games I've played so far. Good length (3.5 hrs) and around 5 hours of side content via the branching paths. Story is quite grounded which I think helps it, characters are good, romance arcs done pretty well. Set locations are quite high quality and the filming is pretty good too. It also have a secret romance that is pretty cool.

Got a ways into Deathloop. It's a cool game, in typical Arkane fashion! I wish I could make a little more sense of what's going on, but at the same time, that's the character's storyline progression. Combat could be a bit more challenging too, I find it easy to headshot enemies so that stealth is very much a choice, not a must.

Did u like it with the flashlight automatically on or prefer the OG with the flashlight manual switch?
The built in duct tape mod is convenient if you just want to shootbang a game out of the backlog, but if this was my first playthrough, I would have wanted it to be with OG doom 3.

The changes in the BFG version kind of messes up the scare factor as you move faster, there is ammo everywhere so you can just keep on using the hard hitting weapons 24/7 if you chose to, and they also added more lights to some areas.

The bfg version is the "just let me shootbang bro" version of doom 3.

Finished the lost mission campaign/expansion in Doom 3 BFG.

And with that, I'm done with the BFG edition, I'm not going to bother with its doom 1&2 achievements since I just played the 2024 edition of those games.

Oui, been a minute.
Finished Death Stranding on steam deck.
Now in Titanfall 2 on the same. Love this little device!

Also playing some Supreme Commander FAF, been ages, but getting back into it a bit.

Noticed that I hadn't finished 40k: Space Marine, so I took care of that, didn't take long as I had stopped playing it at the last checkpoint of the game a bunch of years ago.

I guess I'm ready for the sequel now.

/edit

Took another look at my achievements list, this must be one of my weirdest playthroughs yet, I started playing the game in 2011, dropped it for some reason, and then continued playing it in 2015, dropped it at the last boss, killed the last boss and finished the game in 2024.
