Got a notification for support for win 10 April 2018 Update ends Nov 2019. Was going to install but not sure what it's for, Thanks.

Windows 10 uses what Microsoft calls a semi annual channel release. Each release has a version name using a YYMM pattern (eg 1703, 1709, 1803, 1809, 1903), you can check yours through the "winver" command.

Each of the releases has a one year and a half support for security and functional updates (opposed to the 5+5 years support cycle for the previous versions like Windows 7 or Windows 8.1), then you must upgrade to a later release to keep support. Upgrade is provided through Windows Update when the new release is generally available.

The April 2018 update would match the 1803 release (technically that's March 2018 but hey, sometimes there are delays) so this fits the 1,5 year support cycle.

You can also create a full install media for the latest 1903 release using https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
