What do YOU prefer in FPS or TPS - INVERT or REGULAR mouse? As a sim lover i find it useful to have a mouse like a joystick - invert. much better IMO. But what do you think?
could be Interesting stat here, participate plz.

Inverted; where up-is-down and down-is-up on your mouse just like a flight stick. It just makes sense to me. (And I think it was how half-life was originally, which is when I made the switch from keyboard to keyboard/mouse.)

I am TOTALLY lost with the mouse set regular and play like a total spastic pulz.

funny result sofar inv - reg = 6-1

This weekend I had a clan party with our Strike Force clan, it was at my place on my comp and I was the only one out of 13 to use inverted mouse, so this result of the poll kinda surprises me......Rage3d - where smart people live :p

Ah btw all the regular users told me that it's logical to move the mouse up if you want your aimdot to go up and mouse down = aimdot down........which kinda isn't true to me, you only move the mouse forwards and backwards not up and down....

and well to me forwards = down, back = up like flight sims :p

I always pictured it as having my hand on my virtual guy's head. If I am holding him by the hair I push to make him look down and pull to look up.

Lol.. mayby thats the reason? :lol: Anyway, I got stuck on inverted cause of some messed up mouse drivers when I first tried duke3d with a mouse+keyb combo. Even though invert was off, it really was enabled. As I learnt using the mouse that way, its impossible to get it off me now :eek:

Btw, invert prolly has more votes, because all the invert users are go immidiately to vote&post their opinion, to get more regular ppl to recruit to the DARK SIDE :evil:

I never thought of it that way, but I found myself nodding as I read your post....

pretty surprising results, but I like to stay regular... uh, i mean...

yeah, I don't understand why people say things like "it makes sense because it is just like a flight stick". If you were playing a flight simulator then yes it would make sense, otherwise I think it's just what you started off with/got used to, for me it's 'regular'.

I must say the only game I've ever played that I did not use inverted mouse with was System Shock 1. I suppose I could get used to regular mouse movements with about a year of practise...ahem. Anyhow, seems to be a personal preference really. For me, inverted feels far more natural.

P.S. Did you know that Thresh (the one from Firingsquad) uses regular mouse movement? ;)

Inverted for me, if it's set to regular it just seems weird. I think it's because inverted makes the screen scroll the same way a windows does for any app(IE you click and pull the scroll bar button down the window contents move up, move the mouse down in a game and inverted controls make the contents of the game screen move up) it just seems natural to me.

I use to use invert, but now regular just feels right. If I have invert, I just keep going the wrong way. Although while in BF1942, I set first person and tank to regular, but the planes as invert. I'll go from running around on regular and hope into a plane and not even think about how it is inverted, it just comes natural.

I just choose what comes naturally first and stick with it. Although I remember always going to invert, but after a long gap in gaming, I seemed to have gone to regular.

Inverted mouse sucks. Also the SIM game argument makes no sense. If you're playing a flight simulation or mech simulation, then BUY A JOYSTICK!

Yeah, the only flight sim I ever could use the mouse effectively for was aces over europe eons ago...otherwise it's a joystick.

I use a regular mouse in FPS because I picture my mouse pad as the screen and the mouse as the crosshair. If I want to shoot up and to the left, I move my mouse up and to the left. I mean, do you invert your mouse on your desktop? NO! So why do it in a FPS? Now for flight sims I can see where inverted would work but I'd just go out and buy a joystick, as they are worthless w/ a keyboard/mouse setup. Anyway, I'm just a CS addict so don't mind me. :evil:

Regular = normal.
Inverted = skew.;)
When i first started out I used to invert, nowadays I just can't seem to play any other way than "normal"
