Another tid bit doing the rounds is that 9070 is so fast it was really an 80 class gpu... apparently AMD is playing the reverse of classifying an 80 class gpu as a 70 class whereas Nvidia classes its 70 class gpus as 80's. I just hope the price fits the 70 class as I think anything above 500$ is hard to swallow as a 70 class.

I dont know what in gods name to compare the cards to now......plus it seems somewhat underwhelming. 9070/XT apparently is equivalent to a 4070? The early tests show the card is close to the 7900xtx or a smidge under a 5080... they did a Furmark test today.

Ya thats hard to tell theres no info at all on the lower tiers other than the 70 class. Maybe they will make the old 700 class the new 60 with a huge uplift. If they can uplift 50-60% of the 9070xt over the 7800xt maybe you can expect the same in the 60 series over the the 7700xt... But prices are up too as it looks like the 9070xt will be 50$ to 150$ over the 7800xt MSRP.

Ya its probably just to get people to think about AMD as 'close to Nvidia'. I wouldnt be surprised if they use RXT 1000 to Nvidia's RTX in their next gen UDNA gpus. And why not. Whatever works they are close in many ways and we need effective competition. The only way that happens is if they gain marketshare. Just hoping AMD is competitive perf wise is meaningless. Nvidia fan boys would be wise to understand this.

3.24 GHZ at just 329w from the reference 304w I think they are showing this thing has legs... leakers on twitter say this thing is bangers and wouldve been a beast with dual gpu on one package 9080 or 9090 version. Too bad they couldnt get the chiplets working this gen but we can expect it to be ready for UDNA in the next series in year or so.

Lets just hope sub 700$ price point doesnt mean 699$. I didnt think 499$ for the 9070xt was gonna be true at this perf level.

Theres a mention of an XTX version. And some tests showing 3.4 ghz running at 55c on furmark (lost that one cant find it) which is pretty cool so maybe can run even higher. I hope they do that and get their crazy pricing out of that as it might match a 5080 in some games and leave the normal XT version which can run at 3.1 ghz on normal 3 fan cooling and leave that one at 550$ tops.
