Radeon RX 9070/XT (RDNA4)

Another tid bit doing the rounds is that 9070 is so fast it was really an 80 class gpu... apparently AMD is playing the reverse of classifying an 80 class gpu as a 70 class whereas Nvidia classes its 70 class gpus as 80's. I just hope the price fits the 70 class as I think anything above 500$ is hard to swallow as a 70 class.

So details on the cards from AMD coming on Feb 28th, and review embargo lifts on March 5th, same day of release.

Some were saying that the 9070 non xt would have the nda lifted on the same day of release but 9070xt would be earlier... also that Nvidia prices exploding means the 9000 will be pricier than anticipated...

I dont know what in gods name to compare the cards to now......plus it seems somewhat underwhelming. 9070/XT apparently is equivalent to a 4070? Is that good or bad? i cant tell....their dumb naming change is already confusing me.

The early tests show the card is close to the 7900xtx or a smidge under a 5080... they did a Furmark test today.

OK now thats more encouraging. But can someone answer me this.... I dont have gobs of money to spend on some of these GPU's so i need to think smaller...and what could be the tier equivalent to an RX 6600? a 9060? 9050?

Ya thats hard to tell theres no info at all on the lower tiers other than the 70 class. Maybe they will make the old 700 class the new 60 with a huge uplift. If they can uplift 50-60% of the 9070xt over the 7800xt maybe you can expect the same in the 60 series over the the 7700xt... But prices are up too as it looks like the 9070xt will be 50$ to 150$ over the 7800xt MSRP.

I dont understand AMD's logic for changing the names like this...they had an established hierarchy and now they want to trick the nvidia users into accidentally choosing their wares?

Ya its probably just to get people to think about AMD as 'close to Nvidia'. I wouldnt be surprised if they use RXT 1000 to Nvidia's RTX in their next gen UDNA gpus. And why not. Whatever works they are close in many ways and we need effective competition. The only way that happens is if they gain marketshare. Just hoping AMD is competitive perf wise is meaningless. Nvidia fan boys would be wise to understand this.

Huge leak. If true could be worth it for 7000 gen owners:

Some better compiled info from a user in the comments based on this leak:

Sure, but Cyberpunk might as well be a nVidia tech demo (nVidia paid for it afterall). Best we can hope for is a DLSS-FSR4 mod. The FSR implementations in that game have been an absolute joke.
