Mirror's Edge + Patch

Started it yesterday and finished it today. Pretty good game overall. The combat wasn't so hot but the parkour was sexcellent. Definitely worth the $5.

No combat isn't so hot at all, but the parkour is great.
Did you get all the yellow bags? Did you play on hard? Did you 3 star every map? If not you just scratched the surface :)

So far what I find is that combat just seems unnecessary and gets in the way of the parkour half the time. I do like the pressure of being chased by the cops, which gives you a reason to keep moving. In fact, my favorite sections so far are the ones where you're running and cops are pouring out from all over. You're obviously not meant to fight them, so your only choice is to run.

I kind of wish the whole game was kept that way, maybe even made the cops unkillable (except maybe kicking them off buildings and such) so you had to use your environment to your advantage to get away.

Its definitely a different kind of game.
I really enjoyed the puzzle aspect of it.
The visuals were very pleasing.
I wasn't fond of the E-surance commercial videos though.

Well worth $5.

On hard you HAVE to kill at least some of them, if you don't you get taken down hard but so so many bullets... especially in a couple of parking sections where the big guns come out.

Probably because I'm playing on normal for now, but all I ever do to take down enemies is a jump kick plus a couple of punches, rinse repeat. That's why I find the combat to be so incredibly boring and gets in the way of the action.

I'm guessing that sort of stuff won't work on hard and you have to do some of the fancier moves, and if that's the case then I'll look forward to it. Guess I could practice the harder moves now while the game's still easy, but since there hasn't been a need for them I haven't really bothered trying.

Short but very sweet. I really hope there is a sequel of some kind. The story could have been better. But, the gameplay was unique and fun. I like it much better with the runner vision OFF. The environment looked more natural with it off and the game was harder. When you got cops and ninjas chasing you it is very hectic finding the right route. I also thought the movement and controls were very well done. Crouch jumps really felt like you were gliding, you could really feel every landing, and wall walking was surreal.

They've already confimed Mirror's Edige 2 is being worked on by a small team at DICE. However no release date or any other information has been released. But it is on the way!

Edit: After some more digging, it appears that Mirror's Edge 2 may have been cancelled due to the economy and EA focusing on guarenteed sales.

Oh yeah, from at least half way through the game, if you stand still for more than a punch you WILL get shot in the back, plus there are... special units later, that you HAVE to fight or they will just kick your arse.

Just have to say, this might be the best $5 I've ever spent on a game (although I did get some good deals back at the end of the Dreamcast's life cycle).

Still, amazingly good fun. Happy to hear that the sequel should be coming. I hope they maintain the visual style. It fits the game perfectly.

Finished this over the weekend.. incredible.. I have to say the visuals were absolutely stunning. the pc version completely blows the console versions out of the water, beatiful looking game.

I was getting some crashing and i had to apply the patch after that it worked flawlessly seemingly this was due to physx. some of the physics and effects in this were amazing , Im glad i waited for an nvidia card to play this as it was worth it.

Just wanted to "me too" on this game's visual style. Just great! Fun but frustrating game at times (control-wise). Will certainly play any sequel.

Oh, and I've only played the 360 version :bleh: , but me being console-FPS gimpy, that's where my only frustration with this game comes from.

just finished the game, I had only two levels to play but because I was busy with other games I completely forgot this game. and I needed to delete some games for Split/second. :)

I would say this was probably the best game that showed decent Physx effects even though it was not that much.
I enjoyed the game overall and I hope there will be a sequel.
it really looked beautiful on the PC at 1920x1200 with AA and physx.

also control wise, keyboard + mouse blows the console version out of the water.
I tried the game with the xbox 360 controller and it was frustrating.

Thread necro activate!!!

Sooo... did anyone else notice that the ending isn't even an ending... you're still on top of the roof that is covered in soldiers with the mayor and whoever else chasing you, only now you have to get your sister off the roof as well!!!
