Is Abit SL6 a good mobo for Radeon?

Hi all

Let me explain, I already have a Abit BH6 (440BX chipset) with P3-450 and 128MB. I want to upgrade because my Radeon 32MB DDR is coming and:

1 - I dont want to overclock.
2 - I want to use the 128MB PC100 memory now and maybe change it to PC133 in the future.
3 - I dont want any compatbility issue.
4 - My case has a 230W only power supply.
5 - I believe AGP 4x will be very important when playing future games (many vertex info trafic going to GPU).
6 - My country is too hot (Brazil).
7 - AMD is great but because itens 3, 4 and 6 I will go with intel.
8 - I want at least a P3-700 CPU now and maybe upgrade it in the future.

Anyone has the Abit SL6 mobo? Any compatbility issues with Radeon? AGP 4x is OK?

Hi, a few weeks ago I bought MSI's 815e (from a BH6) I have PC100, at the time a Gforce 2 and I lost speed compared to the BH6. For me the BH6 is alot faster then the 815e. It overclocked great but the 3dmarks were 1000 lower on the 815e. It might have been just the MSIs board. I think PC133 memory would really make a dif....

I am going to just hold out and wait...
 
AGP 4x is negligible, cause PC-100 RAM provides only 800 MB/sec and AGP 2x lets you handle 566 MB/sec. As RAM needs to handle more than just video-information, you should not mention any differences between AGP 2x and AGP 4x. Besides, since IDF AGP 8x is on its way and serial-AGP is the next step...

Yearout: 1000 marks is too much to lose. Did you reinstaled the OS or just changed the mobo?

DannyBoy: I agree today AGP 4x is not much difference today, but maybe in the future with really T&L enabled games there will be a lot of polygons traffic (I hope texture will be compressed and stored on the cards local memory).

I agree the BX is really fast. I am happy with my BH6, maybe I will buy a sloket.
