How many weeks has gamma been fixed? Why no patch yet?

HiThere

It's been broke 8 months now, with the exception of that lucky SOB at AVS forums. POP! is the sound of someone at ATI pulling thier thumb out of their "dark area" and issuing a fix...

C'mon, I like my 8500, but ATI gives the competition so many reasons sometimes...

Heh-heh-heh.

Heh-heh-heh.

Heh-heh-heh...do I even have to say it? They're never very exciting over on the dark side is my one complaint...always just about 50-100 more 3dm2k1se points and a couple of FPS more in DroneZ. So boring, so predictable.

:p

yeah, and a nice fat 50% FPS decrease in UT to boot.
whats not to like about nVidias latest drivers?

Didn't that Orr guy over at AVS tell us all exactly what the problem was and exactly how ATI was going to solve it 2 months ago? Is it unreasonable of me to expect them to be timely about such a simple fix? From what I understand, the solution involved a simple re-aligning of the control points in the gamma thingey. This doesn't seem like the kind of thing that would, once fixed, require a whole lot of compatability checks and testing, etc.

THE GAMMA FORMULA WHERE IS IT? THE GAMMA FORMULA WHERE IS IT?

I don't think fixing the gamma problem is what requires all the checking, I imagine this fix will be bundled in with other fixes/changes (and some extra features by the sound of it? :D ), so the whole driver package will need to be extensively tested.

I'm sure some good person on here will leak them as soon as they become more widely available anyway. ;)

Hopefully they will realese some driver during computex or something :)

Nah, the only guy that can upload the new driverset on the dev ftp is on holiday and until he's back no new drivers.

Gamma has been broken for a long time. The LOD Bias slider hasn't worked at all since day one, and the dither w/ alpha is also broken/ignored as well.

These have all been 8+ month issues in the drivers. Let's just hope something changes fairly soon! :)
