Good/reputable place for a deal on Microsoft Office?

Hey all. I'm buying a new PC for my parents as I recently Skyped with my dad who was puzzled by the fact that his current PC was no longer keeping time.

Apparently, at nearly 10 years old, the CR2032 on the motherboard died :-P And, after replacing the battery, his PC has kept time but initially sort of freaked out.

So, at this point, I'm thinking the safest measure is a new PC and Amazon had a really good deal so I'm going with that.

The problem is that I want to get my parents MS Office but I don't want a Office 365 subscription, because subscriptions for software are bullshit.

And while I see a lot of places offering likely gray market keys (and I don't care if they're gray market or not as long as MS sees them as valid); I just don't know what sites are reputable and which are not.

Any suggestions?

i'm not sure if you can get that thing without a time limitation. That aside there are a ton of places where you can get keys for around 30 bucks over here. Also, if you don't want to spend money on that new subscription bs, there's Office Online, which still is free.

As for suggestions, maybe try

After having G2A recommended for Windows 11 in another thread I made and then looking into G2A and seeing some not too nice things about it, I did some more research and settled on SoftwareHubs. The reviews and scam adviser-type sites seem to paint it as potentially legit. They also allowed use of GooglePay, which makes me feel a bit better not directly having to give my credit card info to a site that I may not fully trust.

Either way, it may not have been quite as a good deal as G2A, but it was still a good deal and my key/download worked without issue.

You could try Open Office. Its pretty dmnn good and totes free.

This is an excellent suggestion, but my dad - despite being retired and several jobs removed from needing "Microsoft" office - uses Outlook for everything :-P Therefore, Outlook is necessary, regardless of the equivalent (or potentially better) from Open Office :-P

Subscriptions  Boo hiss! :D

uuhhm, no, there is no need for a subscription. You just log in with your m$ account and can use (almost) everything.

Microsoft Office Online is an online office that is offered as a free web application and is part of the Microsoft Office family. The free version is reduced in its range of functions compared to the desktop versions. The applications are online versions of Word, Outlook.com, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, and OneDrive as online data storage. Office Online can be run with all common web browsers and is therefore independent of the computer's operating system. Google Docs, Sheets, Slides and Forms are comparable web applications. Microsoft Office Online is an integral part of Microsoft Office 365, which is offered in different plans, can be combined with the Office desktop applications and is also chargeable. The paid version within Office 365 offers significantly more features than the free one.
