ess drivers...which is best?

Help...

Which driver set is best for my Dell i7500 laptop featuring an ESS Maestro 2E (1978) chipset:

1. the Dell driver v 4.06.00.0486 (6/25/99)
2. the ESS driver v 4.12.01.4054 (3/28/00)
3. or the RLTMSD beta 5 from this site?

But do you know if anymore releases of the RLTM driver are scheduled (beta 6 or final)?
