Cat 14.7 RC1 Out

Crossfire doesn't work for me in Diablo 3, although SLI worked just fine. I haven't tried to force it using RP yet though.

That's what I see too Greasy, Crossfire dosen't work but SLI did. I show Crossfire working in WoW but stutters and hitches constantly with the 295x2. The 290x feels smoother in both but performance is lackluster and drops occur alot.

Because they promised one driver a month....

:(

Are they really back to that schedule? I thought that less rushed WHQL drivers and more betas was working out really well when I had my 7950s.

SLI "works" for me in Diablo 3 too. Except that I see framerate dips lower than I get with a single card pretty often. I disable sli for D3.

Yeah, Nvidia cards have always seemed to work better in Blizzard games over the years. Don't know why AMD haven't worked at that. Wow is still a pretty popular game and I would imagine that a lot of the people playing don't own monster pcs.

He's mistaken, they have promised nothing.

WHQL when they feel they are ready (has been one per quarter recently) and betas in between (has been one per month recently) but they never promised any set schedule.

OT:
Blizzard loves vertex shaders. Take a look at the benchmarks where Nvidia has a lead in (Particles and somewhat ShaderToyMark) and you have your answer.

From the information I have gathered this has to do with hardware and cannot be fixed in drivers.
When I played WoW there were few issues with AMD cards in the game (single cards, I've never used crossfire and haven't really payed attention to the issues with that). Nvidia cards did outperform AMD in WoW, specifically in raiding environment (so much particle effects, blizzard uses vertex shaders for this). And again from my recollection it has to do with how Nvidia cards handle particles. For AMD it was much worse back then, today it's almost a tie or mostly in AMD's favor. This was something AMD became better at from the 5000-series and onward.

However if by work you mean less issues then it's a collaboration issue between AMD and Blizzard I'd guess?

I'm not mistaken it was on a AMD slide earlier in the year. Betas per month/WHQL per quarter. It wasn't promised but thats what the roadmap on it said.

link please, ive read all the slides and seen no such thing.

I am not here to argue with you or do research (mainly because I dont really care that much if I am wrong and dont feel like an internet argument), I saw it back in late 2013 when their was hubub over the 13.12's and 14.1's. If I am wrong, I am wrong who cares?

actually it was just betas every quarter they promised, and the 14.1's in a month
or I interpreted it wrong, hope i can live with myself being wrong on the internet and all

Sli works great in diablo3 if your ok with negative scaling, runs far better on a single 680 than the pair.

diablo3
290x cf worked fine with vsync on the last time I checked about 34% to 45% on each card and both heat up locked at 60fps at 1600p

but so is a single 290x 60fps, so I still turn it off why heat both cards if you don't need to

vsync off I do get negative scaling on cfx

We used to be THE site for AMD driver guys to be around but members being jackasses + mods trying to not be ban happy = them eventually getting tired of the crap and moving on for many. Others it was just time, job changes and such.

Anything beyond the official 14.4 WHQL's is still unusable on my end....Monitors flicker or show text corruption every now and then, and on a couple of occasions and out of the blue, all I see from the 3 displays is a black screen with the release candidate drivers( 14.6 or 14.7's, makes no difference)....:bleh:
