ATI TV ISA discussion

I remember surfing on the net and finding out that for the ATI-TV Tuner ISA, the contacts for the card are only for power. I want to put my ATI TV Tuner in a non ISA board. Does anyone have the website for instructions on what pins go to gnd or 12v?

Or anyone have the website with the step by step instructions?

Here You will find info on The ISA bus
I soldered cables direct on the pcb. It worked well. BUT ATI dont have any drivers that works with WinXP, so I sold it.

ATI TV ISA in WinXP discussion

10 hours to figure this out.
5 minutes to fix.....

*Make sure AMC Connector is properly attached.
*Download the "Alternate Driver" for Rage Pro (support for AIW, TV Wonder) (it says ATI TV ISA not supported)
*Install drivers, you will have yellow circles on your TV Tuner goodies in your device manager
*You cannot rollback drivers, so for each ATI Capture/Tuner/Audio device right click and choose to update the driver, install from a list, don't search, I will choose driver... then pick the original drivers provided with Windows XP (there will be two headings "Ati Multimedia Inc" and "ATI").
* Immediate relief from yellow circles, and instant repair for use in ATI TV (MMC 7.9) or better yet, Power VCRII.
* Make sure you don't download the "ATI Multimedia Driver" from Windows Update or you will be creating yellow circles again.
* Send donations to me for all this hard figuring.

What is the AGP graphic board with ISA daughterboard tuner?

What is the AGP graphic board with ISA daughterboard tuner?

I recently backed up, purged and reinstalled friend's old computer (it's a basic family web browser and office system).

It was bought in 1998/1999: Epox BXA, intel PII 350, 128MB RAM, Ati Rage card, SB64 PCI, US Robotics V90 ISA modem.

Win2k picked up the Ati card as Rage (don't recall ofhand which flavour) and didn't pick up daughter ISA board.

I didn't took a long time with the box, since this was not a high priority, but getting tuner to work might benefit them latter.

Which particular Ati product would this be?

AGP Rage graphic card connected via ribbon cable similar to ATA 40-conductor cable to an ISA board with large TV tuner.

Would this work under Win2k?

What are the capabilities of this product - I guess the box is too slow for capturing, but would basic TV watching work?

Otherwise, I have little experience with Ati cards - I'm a Matrox guy.

it has an ISA video capture device??? Then there is no way it has working Win2k drivers. I wouldn't bother wasting any time on it, and besides the bus speed of ISA wouldn't handle video capture very well anyway.

Yeah but it has a ribbon cable hooked to the the AGP rage card. That gives it the extra bandwidth doesn't it?

Could you please specify the details of the "Alternate Driver" for Rage Pro (version etc.) and possible download location (if not ATi's site)? I have Rage LT Pro AGP and ISA tv-tuner hooked to it, running XP SP2. I downloaded and installed XP Display Driver version 5.10.2600.6010 from ATi's site and after that 2 yellow circles remained, Ati wdm tv audio and tuner. In addition to these 2, there are 3 ati devices: wdm audio video crossbar, bt829 video and specialized mvd codec. For all of these 5 devices I changed drivers to microsoft provided ones, all of them dating 3.07.2001 and being version 6.13.10.6131. But the above mentioned 2 yellow circles still remain.

Any help highly appreciated!

With best regards,

Sten

Btw, do you remember how did you get it working in win2000 (some specific version of ati display driver perhaps)? I have Rage Lt Pro AGP and ISA tv-tuner hooked to it with ribbon cable. I would like to see it working in XP, but w2k will do also.

With best regards,

Wow, I remember that card, and doing that modification. Damn! I sure do miss the ISA bus some days ;)
LOL!!!

I have a Pentium3 MB system that still has like 2 ISA slots in it! ! Ghz PIII and the ISA slots utilize old 56K Modems!!! These PIII systems between 500Mhz and 1 Ghz are by no means useless. I doubt I'd put a Pentium MMX 233 system togeter, but any Coppermine PIII system still runs Windows XP just fine!

I take it back, a Pentium MMX 233 works for Linux really well.

Stn - welcome to Rage3d. Ordinarily we do not bump such old threads, but since you bumped three of them all relating to the same topic I've decided to merge them here into a single thread.

To be honest there isn't much talk about ISA cards anymore. My advice to you is to purchase a cheap PCI TV Tuner card and give up the good fight regarding ATI TV ISA. PCI TV tuner cards can be had for as little as $24usd

Good luck.
