Looks like NV is planning to try and keep old school game programming on the table for a while. This could hurt ATI while being bad for the industry if we take into consideration the TWMTBP strong arm tactics NV has been pushing onto devs for the last few years...

Anyone have any luck getting the ATI Demos to run on a GFFX Go5200 equipped laptop? I have a dell machine with a Go5200 and get a "Cant create D3D device" Sushi error. I tried at several different resolutions. Using the drivers that it came with. The Laptop is about 2 months old. XP Home...

It turns out that the Catalyst 10 drivers coming soon will enable the hidden 8 extra pipes in all 9700/9800 cards and boost the clock speeds to over 500Mhz. This will effectively make all these cards R420s!!!! :D Ok well maybe not.... but where are those tasty new drivers?

Its a special DX/OGL switch in the control panel that enables NV emulation wrapper to enable specialized FX code paths! It allows ATI cards to use the dumbed down GF FX code path in any of the newer games. Initial testing has shown from 130% all the way up to a 420% increase in frame rates...
