I will say I have heard whatever you do, do not let sunlight into the headset for a long period of time. It gets magnified and burns out the screen.

was planning to toss a clean shop towel over it to keep out some of the Arizona dust

Just playing the tutorial in elite dangerous with a xbox one controller is badass. Definitely gonna get one of those HOTAS sticks, I can see spending a lot of time in this.
Got Voice Attack, and the HCS Astra pack, and damn it so nerdy but so awesome.Last edited by t0adp1p3; Jul 16, 2017, 05:44 PM.

Sunlight is the only real risk (unless we're talking like some sort of movie spotlight). A normal light isn't strong enough to be a problem.
For those of you who have Raw Data, check out the new update. They instituted the new UE4 forward renderer and the game looks so much better now. All of the horrible shimmery edges are gone!

don't let direct sunlight into the lens, it doesn't take long to burn at all. Just think how fast you can burn something with a magnifying glass and that's it."I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it."

but if I do get into it
and if the htc vive drops in price also or a htc vive 2 hits I may buy one also
I can see the need to have both as it looks like these may be more like xbox and ps and have lots of exclusive games
and the oculus rift/zenimax fight may feed it if doom, fallout vr and skyrim are blocked from rift in some way
but fallout vr I do want to play and will buy what I need to to do so
would need a good hdmi/usb 3 port kvm switch - rift/vive/and off
I may get the kvm switch now as a off switch

Lone Echo is definitely worth a purchase. It's really something special.
I definitely would make sure you get your VR legs first though, because floating around in zero g can be a bit stomach churning. All in all though it is probably the definitive VR game, ready at dawn made up for the order with this one. Be aware it's short though at like 5 hours.
Really is "THE" VR game to own.

So far my favorite games are:
Lone Echo
Elite Dangerous
Superhot
Mages Tale
Arizona Sunshine
Robot Recall
Onward is really cool too, I just haven't had time to learn all the intricacies of it.Last edited by t0adp1p3; Jul 21, 2017, 08:10 AM.

Got my touch controllers today and bought Paranormal Activity.
Did the intro, took me a while to find the key to house.
Once I got in the house i barely lasted 2 minutes before I had to quit. Amazing how the touch controllers allows you to pick up and examine objects as if you're really there holding it. Once the noise cues began though, coupled with the eerie rooms, my heart started to elevate beyond what it could handle, had to pussy out for now.

Pulled the lever on a HTC Vive during the Steam Summer Sale. Got it for $50 off plus a $50 steam card and Star Trek Bridge Crew and free shipping.
Just got around to setting it up. It's pretty cool. The kids haven't been off of it in a week.
I wish I can say that I haven't got sick on it yet but I have. Motion sickness is a bitch for me apparently. Been playing it increasing the time a little bit each session on it for the last few days and I'm doing MUCH better now. Still, sometimes get a little queeze feeling from time to time. It's really disorientating for me I guess.
Anyway, I love the games though.
Got Superhot VR, Raw Data, PCars, Tilt Brush, Sports Bar VR, Job Sim (The kids play that. I don't need a sim), ED, Google Earth, The Lab, NVidia Funhouse, Star Trek, Universe Sandbox 2 on Steam and got Everest and the Plank Experience on the VIVE. Ponied up for the Vive subscription and got Apollo 11, Fantastic Contraption, Front Defense, Mage Works, and Sairento.

Well i've ended jumping on the Oculus summer sale - touch bundle
& just wow this is the promised land when it works smoothly (but everything still feels a bit beta'ish, e.g. sound dropping due to conflicts between steam settings and oculus and other little niggles)
I now understand the comments about the lenses sweet spot and frankly i'm glad i went Oculus on this one (particularly when flailing around).
I've got a 4th sensor on the way and had to swap to a inteck usb3.0 card, but apart from that all good here).
Firstly - why hasn't alien isolation been updated for VIVE & Oculus?
Anyway all game suggestions welcome
Current impression of Arizona sunshine - is this thing needs patched badly
Robo recall is a must
The lab - is a must
Eve Valkyrie - i've already clocked up way to many hours on this (this is my multiplayer crack & i don't normally go near multi player).
i'm waiting on Nvidia to un-break their drivers, to suit Paranormal activity.
On a side note - i've no idea why some straps with emitters for torso and legs aren't standard or the option to add MS kinect to keep a check on user & location etc. e.g. the more sanity checks on player and room location would seem like a no brainer.Last edited by delirium121; Jul 23, 2017, 03:13 AM.

The game is a bit rough. However, if you can get beyond that it's probably the best zombie game for VR. If you're just coming into VR now you have no idea what we had to contend with. Some of the early games, well, they make AZ Sunshine look like a master piece!

Lone Echo
Then also get Lone Echo

Someone is releasing Proper VR for Alien Isolation soon. He is about 90% complete and it should be done in a week or two.

these are the active usb3.0 extension cables you'll need;
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and grab one of these aswell
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
4x cameras is the way to go (although 3x is pretty good)
and don't forget to grab the oculus tray tool to bump the supersampling up.
& Eve all the way, jump in and blast away, the single player is 1/2hr tops I kid you not, but the multiplayer with the chatter off more than make up for it.
EDIT: Also i grabbed lone echo, which is astounding (and I've discovered I get space walk vertigo, which is odd as i don't get any other kind of vertigo).Last edited by delirium121; Jul 25, 2017, 09:45 AM.

I found alot of my glitching was solved with the active usb3 cables linked above, but AZ seems to be amongst the worst of my culprits particularly when compared to lone echo.

If you are going for four cameras and plan on using that linked USB card save your money. It doesn't have a separate controller for each USB. So do a little more research and grab the $80 one that has a controller for each port. I believe it is this one
https://www.amazon.com/Express-Super.../dp/B00HJZEA2S
Or this one for a more traditional layout since the above is a tad funky I guess
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/review/...=UTF8&cursor=1
If you only need one extra USB slot than that cheaper linked one works fine.Last edited by t0adp1p3; Jul 25, 2017, 03:42 PM.

So my touch controllers are in and I will be setting up this crap tonight or tomorrow. Now is the time to tell me what games I should buy.
There are some summer bundles I was thinking about.
Summer adventure bundle has Raw Data, Climb, I expect you to die and Sports Bar for 70 bones.
Explore Summer bundle has unspoken, Everest and space pirate trainer for 33 caps.
Superhot VR was another one I wanted to get
Lone Echo
Arizona Sunshine
Still undecided between EVE and Elite Dangerous. Also Mage's Tale.
Help me.

Paranormal Activity had so much potential to be a great game, possibly the scariest VR game of all time, but it's plagued by so many gameplay issues that makes it far more frustrating to play than enjoy.
I played 25% of the game so far without a flashlight, because I couldn't find it. Turns out it was in the beginning before entering the house, but a dark material texture covered it. Even with the patch I couldn't find it without looking at a youtube video. And if you don't get it and enter the house, then you'll be stuck wandering around in the dark for hours until you come across a second one. How about giving you the damn flashlight in your inventory in the beginning in the first place?
Too many objects required for the puzzles are right there in front of you but you can't see them, because they're not highlighted or made to stand out in any way. Remember pixel hunting in old point n click adventure games? Welcome to the VR version...
All too often there's a dead end with no clear direction on what to do next. So you go all around the house trying to interact with everything tediously, while the game throws random jump scares at you. Who designed this ****?
This is just a terrible game that relies on jump scares and other gimmicks, and while that in itself can be a very scary experience, in the end everything boils down to gameplay and gameplay in this game is ****.
Very disappointed, kinda reminds me of Obduction, another VR game I was disappointed with. That game had cool VR effects and environments in the beginning, but it became tedious the more I put into it until it became painfully clear that despite all the oohs and awwe of VR, it was just another Myst game with godawful puzzles.

Set it up.
Good product overall.
Screendoor is too much. With my glasses it is a pain and always seems some form of blur is there.
Robo recall was tons of fun.
I also picked up the adventure and exploration bundles.
Picked up Lone Echo and Arizona Sunshine as well.
Things are still downloading.
Will try some more over the weekend. Have a raging headache after about 30 minutes of play. :S

VR can take some getting used to for some folk. Give it time and don't over do it.
When I had PSVR I was wearing glasses. In between returning the PSVR and getting an Occulus Rift, I switched to contacts. With the PSVR I found it annoying to get the headset on correctly without any blur when wearing glasses. Glad I don't have to deal with glasses now. Watch out for scratching the Rift lenses with your glasses.
