Wait what? Higher subpixel count? You don't mean higher physical fill ratio by chance, similar to Sony's SXRD projectors 90%+? Or is it traditional RGB horisontal alignment? The SXRD projector I'm running right now basically has, in practical use, no screen door effect. No grid. You can stand right next to a 100", and then you'll start seing it. That's what we really need. Higher resolution displays / high DPI can still look like crap..

Oh got me interested, it is actually highercsubpixel count That makes me very happy!

I can also now look down without the damn headset slipping out of position (in the past I had to actually hold it in place with my hand, or I couldn't see a damn thing).

It's also nice to not have to put my bulky Sennheiser headphones over the top of the Vive, and put them on and off separately. Audio quality seems pretty good, good enough for VR gaming anyway.

I'd say it's definitely worth the money!
did yours have that shitty velvet thing that comes off with sweat, mine did so i prewashed it. Some people had luck with getting a replacement foam, i'll wait to see if there is anything official.

Still I agree its great, not having to fiddle with earphones or headphones makes it much more appealing to put it on etc.

How often do you all wash your vr cover?

I went one month one time with the vr headset, and it started to itch my face really bad. Thankfully I have a vr cover that's can be put in the washing machine and dryer.

Also weekly wipes of using alchohol to wipe down helps for the nonwashable gaskets.

Oh, and I've changed the way I put on my rift headset. I have it extremely loose in the back and next use the top strap to secure the vr headset by pulling in semi-tight. I do this while keeping the viewing of the screen slightly shifted up. Then I rotate the angle of the headset towards the cheeks to hold it into place now. That seems to put less pressure on my face and keep the wear marks at bay. It also keeps the entire headset from shifting down losing focus of text when I need to look down.

Generally though, loosening the back of the headset causes it to settle down when looking down. This method above helps prevent this from occurring and keeps the visuals nice and crisp.

hmm, hearing some of the issues with the rift and vive, it seems Sony's PSVR design is pretty decent, The mechanism for putting it on and taking it off and keeping it in place is excellent. never had any problems with the headset staying in place, and is very easy to stick on and get going. Also hear that the design of the Sony and where it distributes weight makes it more comfortable for long sessions. Cant comment as I have never put either of the other 2 on though.

Comfort and lense quality wise, the PSVR is easily better than the rift. The fov is much more narrow though. Graphically though, my daughter loves the rift but thinks psvr looks like crap. IMO, its much better but the PSVR is far from crap. Touch and play area on Rift make PSVR play area and controls feel like they're a generation behind though.

how well does the psvr fair with a lot of head movement or is there not a game where it'll require a lot of head movement etc..like holopoint?

It won't shift around at all.

That's one thing that doesn't bother me about the PSVR, really don't care to do the whole walk around thing with VR. Don't have the room for it anyways. Would like to compare the 3 but probably never will.

My biggest complaint with the PSVR is Sony cheaping out and not allowing HDR and 4K 4:4:4 pass through the dam box. So I had to buy 2 HDMI extender cables and use 2 HDMI ports on the TV to get around this. when I use the VR I plug it into the VR port and when I use 4K PS4 Pro I have to plug that cable into the second cable TV Port. Stupid decision by Sony when you make 2 pieces of Hardware with one disabling the features that you promote on the PS4 Pro.

But then there would be less reason to upgrade to the PSVR PRO.

Bah, Blasphemy! I doubt this issue will be fixed with this generation. Probably with PS5 and PSVR2

Rift+Touch only 399 currently, this is such a great price, it's going to be like this for 6 weeks supposedly. Hopefully its not just to clear stock via the lawsuit etc...

Is it worth indulging. 500 shipped to my door is too good to pass up.

I'm extremely tempted to pick up a rift at this price. Especially since it comes with the controllers.

The Rift does. Not sure about the vive though.

Yeah, As long as your glasses aren't to wide, my glasses are 130mm and are fine, wouldn't like to go much wider though.
The actual focal length is around 2 meters.

Vive works much better with glasses since you can adjust the distance of the lens. You can push them farther away so your glasses doesn't touch/scratch the lens or to make it so the glasses aren't pushed up against your face etc...

Also a lot of people find out that they don't even need their glasses when they are on the rift and vive so there's that possibility too.

Damnit Toad! You're making me want to pull the trigger on one. Where did you get yours?

That's a really good price. If you're on the fence now is a good time to pick it up.

That being said, for VR to be mainstream, $400 needs to be more like the standard price, not just a sale price.

HTC really needs to step up to the plate and start shipping the Vive with the DAS already included. Having to cough up an extra $100 for the strap, while worth it since it's better the standard strap, is still a bit irritating.

A great game to play with Oculus and 3 sensors is Pavlov. Reloading weapons for each weapon is much more fun than pressing the R key on the keyboard. http://store.steampowered.com/app/555160/Pavlov_VR/

A lot of the problems I had in the beginning with games looking low res are all gone now. Games like Dirt Rally or Project Cars look amazing in VR.
