I think they have done great at telling what kind of specs you need to run it and there will be oculus ready pcs.

But people are stupid and there will surelt be people that are sitting on a 5 years old pc and thinking they can run it...

The worst is if they have an laptop, no laptops of any kind work with the rift

I believe you can. Certainly the DK2 lets you use your own head phones.

I can't seem to find information that says they are shipping internationally... or more specifically, to Australia.

Also, the touch controllers won't ship until the second half of 2016. Boo.

The headphones are detachable. The headphone does look cheap but it surprisingly sound better than it looks and it does block out noise.

So I would advise that everyone uses them for the best and "proper" sound.

I have a driving cab built for sims with mounted surround sound. Feels far more ideal for the sound to stay in one place relative to the seat, but games will need to have an option for positioning with headphones or speakers.
Will be at PAX South and praying there will be a CV1 there. DK2 was amazing already with everything but screendoor/res

They look it to me, but I'm guessing that the frequency response of the headphones will play into how well positional audio will work; if the games' binaural reproduction is influenced by that, the positional audio may be most accurate with the headphones supplied. Just a guess.

It is the same price as a decent PC. To be frank I'm not sure whether I'd buy this, or a 140Hz+ IPS screen.

really depends what you are playing. Driving/flying sims tend to not be as demanding, or at least not as visually effected by turning things down.
I only have a 760 still, but I ran triple screen Euro Truck with it just fine.

Had been putting off upgrade til oculus was out, but now with this cost I will have to put off a new card a while longer.

Every Oculus made game is targeting 970 hardware. Many games wont even have graphical settings

So a 970 is no problem at all and will work beautifully

Target means it needs to run on at the FPS they need... not the graphics that they advertise or sell people on. I can play Witcher 3 at the min requirements...
