    Faint signal reception

    Ok Guys and Gals your help would be much appreciated.

    Had my computer set up and the tv worked perfectly receiving a very clear picture.

    Moved my computer and then when I plugged it back in, TV player has great difficulties finding a signal. When it does the picture is very fuzzy, but the signal strength says 100%.

    Im using MMC 9.13 and Cat 6.3 - but I have also tried MMC 9.16 and Cat 7.4 and still the same thing happens. Im in the UK by the way, and using the RF cable input.
    It can find radio stations with no problems.

    Now, if I plug in the RF cable into a video player and then use the RF loop through to link my computer to the external aerial then the TV player can find all the channels perfectly!!

    So, has anyone any ideas - are there any hidden settings which I could alter or has the TV bit on my ATI 1800XL graphics card gone wrong?!

    All help would be gratefully received.

    (I have also checked for any loose cables within the computer and even swapped over the PCI-e power cable - but with no resolution)

    Regards
    Sarge

    Sounds to me your internal cables aren't the issue, but the external ones. What happens if you plug the external aerial directly into your tv card, without the video player? How far did you move your computer and did you use any different cables?

      In reply to the issues you raised;
      * I did plug the external aerial directly into the graphics card, but still really fuzzy picture.

      * I havent used any different cables, and moved it between houses.

      If I plug in my old GFX AIW 9800 pro card and do the same thing with the amplified signal it works perfectly.

        By "amplified signal" you mean the vcr (video player) right? Most VCR's amp the incoming signal a little. The external antenna you mention, is that rooftop or rabbit ears? If it's rooftop, are you using the same cable and did you check all the fittings carefully?
