    MMC\TVwonderPro Driver advice needed!

Well my old nForce3 Ultra finally bit the dust and Im leaving AGP behind. That means farewell to my AIW (9600XTAIW crapped out about 2 months ago, been using a 9000ProAIW till now). Ive upgraded (sort of) to an ASUS6100\430 motherboard, A64 3800+ (939) and an ASUS X1650Pro 256Mb PCI-E. I did not go A64 AM2 so I could reuse my 1024 of CorsairDDR400 XMS (new ram would have cost more than the budget $ target). My plan was to use a TVwonderPro I got a few years ago (tried to use it with a 9800Pro and got no luck) for my TV functions. So here is my problem (in a nutshell), I need to use a version of MMC that has the "pause" (TV recording) feature (MMC9.0-9.08 as far as I know), but I still want to use the latest Cats for my X1650Pro (If I can). When I tried the 9800Pro\TVwonderPro, I could not get MMC 9.2-9.08 with Cat5.8-6.6. Is there anything that can be done to make MMC9.6-9.8 (listed on ATI.com to support TVwonderPro) and the WDMs (for MMC9.6-9.8) play nice with current Cats? Can this work or am I doomed?

P.S. I have been using Cat5.2CCC\MMC9.2 for over a year without any problems whatsoever. ATI software seemed to go downhill from there. The last new MMC I tried was 9.13. It was no good to me without the "pause" function so I went back to the MMC that works.

    I feel your pain!

I have a TV Wonder Pro and just replaced my x800xl with a shiny new AGP1950pro.

I have MMC 9.13, TV 9.08, RW 3.03, WDM from 6.3 cats? (From WDM's ini -> DriverVer=10/28/2003,6.13.10.8304) and Cat 6.12 (I think.. it's specific for the 1950pro so I'm not sure which version it is).

When I installed the new vid drivers, I did not uninstall anything except the vid driver. I then installed JUST the new vid driver. I didn't use the new WDM, or CCC, or Parental control. And it works!!! I use ATI Tray tool for changing things. Just make sure you go Advanced when installing so you can uncheck all the crap that will hose your system.

Thanks for the advice, Im going to try out both ideas. For now I'll just have to wait (my parts will not be here untill Wed or Thur). Ive been kicking myself over a 15$ bad choice. For 15$ more than I paid for my X1650Pro(140$USD), I could have got the X1650XT. I was feeling kind of stupid for not doing reasearch on the "XT", but the "free" RainbowSix:Vegas that comes with the "Pro" should make up for it a little. The main thing is getting better gaming performance than the old 9600XT. According to the "VGA Charts" over at Tom'sHardware, the X1605Pro destroys it (used X600XT which is = to 9600XT). Im also going to try building an AGP system (only missing Case, HardDrive and OS) around my old AIW, just in case I can't get the TVwonderPro to play nice.
