MP uses the settings from within the codecs, so deinterlacing is possible, whether it is noticable in the viewed output
Also MP uses VMR9 instead of overlay, this may have an added advantage.
The latest SVN for MP also has settings for VMR9 filtering mode.

Media Portal: Is it possible to get more aspect ratios in any way?

SciDoctor, I think I will have to do this another way because of a few things (mainly my wife's refusal of having different playback software on different computers. She's from up north in Norway, and believe me, the scots got nothing on the stubbornness of North Norwegian women!). But I would like to ask you one question: Why is it that MP can do deinterlacing with AIW cards when software like JRMC and dScaler can't? I'm really curious about this one!

Hi, SciDoctor, and thanks for answering! I have found out that Media Portal won't work in my kitchen because it has a lag (introduced by the PVR functionality, I suppose). But in the bedroom I think it may be just right. I am using the native res (1440x900), so that's not the problem. I will play around a bit more, and if I can't get it working the way I want to I'll go to the MP forums.

The 's' key toggles aspect ratio of the VRM9 image .
Contact the devs on the MP forums if none of the seven aspect ratio choices don't cover your spec .
Also make sure your desktop is running native resolution to your monitor as this is the data that MP uses when setting up its base resolution to ratio.

Media Portal: Is it possible to get more aspect ratios in any way?
I have an LCD widescreen monitor, and like most computer monitors it's 16:10. So I would like to be able to zoom the 16:9 part of the image almost to full screen in MP, but I can't seem to do it. Is there a trick I haven't found that zooms on? I have tried all the standard AR's.Tags: None
