Blank video, only sounds, tried everything..

Need help desperately here. Suddenly my AIW 9700 Pro can't capture anything/show anything but sounds. I've tried different things to fix it for hours, but still no luck. Here's what i've tried so far :

    - Using Ati TV with composite/svideo, the video shown is blank. Only sound came out. I tried to connect my cable tv directly to my card, no channel can be found, no video/sounds.
    - Using virtualdub capture mode, its the same. video blank, sound only.
    - Using clean install as recommended in the other post here, still the same result.
    - I've tried all the above with different catalyst/wdm driver from 4.8 to 5.5, mmc 9.02-9.08, the result is the same. video blank, sound only.
    - Ran the System compatibility check (from mmc), reported no problem. All WDM driver also has no exclamation mark whatsoever on device manager.
    - TV out still works perfectly with any driver/mmc.

I've capture video before with my aiw, but this was a long time ago. Since then ive installed so many catalyst/mmc without using the capture feature. Now suddenly it breaks just like that.
Is it possible that the ati rage chip fails just like that even though the vga itself is still working perfectly (for 2d/3d etc)? Not to mention the diagnostics show that theres nothing wrong, windows device manager has yet to report any problem.
I dont know what to do know, could any of you guys give me suggestion?
    Please help me out. Thanks.

I am also running with the ATI AIW 9700 PRO and I have Cat 5.5 MMC 9.08 installed and all is working fine here. I too have installed a lot of Cat/MMC versions with this card.

      Basic things to check.

Check the Video setup screen in MMC. Trying the "reset" button would be worth a try.

Also check DXDIAG, you should show acceleration fully enabled.

Did you install the DAO / MDAC package from ATI?

      http://www2.ati.com/drivers/9-08_mmc_uci.exe

Did you install the newer DVD Decoder as well?
      http://www2.ati.com/drivers/atiCDwiz.exe

Make sure Windows Media Encoder is installed.

      "C:\Program Files\Windows Media Components\Encoder\wmenc.exe"

      Does MPG playback work?
