Through checking out various other posts, i've realized that there is a way to get rid for the 2 second delay in Composite, S-Video AND TV input by using AmCap or GraphEdit... But they didn't quite describe well how to set up AmCap properly It seems like a hassle to set up GraphEdit (killing a fly with a rocket launcher?) , i've only used AmCap
I originally wrote this post for Media Centre Edition users, I realized everyone would benefit from this, so now it's here in this thread instead... If you don't have MCE, Ignore step 1.
So here's a step by step to using AmCap:
1)you gotta run the command "net stop ehrecvr", which will disable the tv tuner usage in MCE, but will allow MMC and AmCap and other programs to function.
I find myself using the "net stop ehrecvr" command so often, I created a simple text file in notepad, pasted the command and saved it as "TV.bat" on my desktop... That way whenever you double click on the icon, it will do it for you, as opposed to typing it in Run every time.
Similarily "net start ehrecvr" does the opposite, but SOMETIMES in order to get MCE to work again you have to reconfigure the tuner in the settings. If that happens, it's better off to just restart your computer when you want to use MCE.
2) Make sure your audio line connecting your tv tuner to your soundcard is still there. In your sound mixer settings, UNMUTE the line it is connected to.
3) Load up AmCap.
-Go to Devices, check off "ATI Rage Theater Video Capture" and "ATI Rage Theater Audio"
-Go to Capture and check off "Capture Audio".
-(optional) Go to Window/VMR9 check off "Enable" and any features you want (The deinterlacing option is greyed out for me, anybody else get that problem?)
-Go to options, click Preview
-Restart AmCap
-Go to Options/Video Input, and select the input source that you want
Note: You should notice that whenever you change channels or video inputs, there is a slight stutter in the pictures, however after 2-5 seconds, the picture runs normal and is smooth as silk again
The only qualm I have with AmCap is the fact that interlaced picture can sometimes be a bit annoying, however i think your eyes can adjust to it and you don't notice it THAT much over time... If only de-interlacing option worked for me
