As I try to make a DVD of a movie that I copied from TV on my TIVO like radeon. Should it take 4 hours to make this to a disk or am I doing something severly wrong?

Studio 8 is one very, very slow program.
That said, MPEG-2 encoding does take some time, even with faster programs.

Pinnacle has had more than it fair share of problems
their forum will show you that
you should make sure you update your program and also follow the procedures for doing so.
also one thing in general that can helps when editing is to have two hard drives on two different channels.
then use a read write method
reading and writing to the same drive will slow thing down
you might try ulead video studio 7 or higherComment
