Do I have to use MMC to take advantage of Theater200?

I just made the switch from my AIW Radeon 32 DDR to an AIW 9800 Pro, and I was wondering if MMC does anything special to take advantage of the theater200 chip that other capturing progs wouldn't. I dont usually use MMC, i use iuVCR, so i was curious. Thanks!

iuVCR should be fine, afterall, both MMC & iuVCR use the same WDM driver layer as API. ATI would have an edge, but in terms of capturing, the improved ADC would give you better analogue to digital without special software

Yes you have to use MMC for the advanced features. MPEG acceleration and Video Soap isn't supported by any other software AFAIK, and its an important feature with analog captures. Also, no other capture program I know of use the proprietary VCR codec, which works real well with the PVR features, and for playback.

is there still that thing where u gotta have a recent dvd serial # to use MMC? or was that only for the dvd decoder?

anywho, i got one from my old AIW Radeon (7200), but if i remember right, i couldnt use the newer MMC's....maybe not..

so i should go for the neweest MMC?

You can use the latest MMC, just not the DVD decoders. You can install DVD 7.6 first, and then uncheck DVD player when you install MMC 8.9, should work fine.

aight so i got mmc 8.9...do i have to do anything to enable these filters/acceleration (is this only mpeg2 captures?)...

do they only take effect WHILE capturing? or should i notice a difference (at least w/ the comb filter or video soap w/e) when viewing in the tv app? thanks

            edit:

also is it normal for avi captures to be limited to 704x480? it seems that hte other formats allow the full 720x480 (and for videosoap level to be edittable only on non avi captures)...thanks

            edit (again ):

is there a way to adjust the volume? I have it low cuz in iuvcr,at least, itd be loud and crackily unless i kept line in low...but i checkd and MMC isnt changing the level, so is there a way to change it in MMC? or a reg. setting perhaps?
