You must live in Canada the land of socialized medicine.

Bottom line - it's always your choice to add a GHz or not. My point is simple. Why not give it a shot if it requires no effort from you after set-up. Even if Stanford is unable to make any real progress towards a cure for cancer or parkinson's ... I do not think it reduces our overall chances of finding a cure over time (if cures even exists).

Ya i know... but its like if you keep pumping money into health and care, but when you go to a hospital for a simple operation there are no beds ie No returns.

It will make you think twice about putting so much money in, i just personally feel this folding wont do anything. Because the government is so far up there rear end they wont spend any money if a cure is found

BLLODUK - My Grandfather died of cancer too. But I'm not so sure he would have the same outlook as you. Likely nor would your grandad. Lighten up ... do you think it could actually hurt mankinds chances of finding a cure?

I thought our government ... our lottery tickets... e.t.c was paying to save lives?

Also the fact of cancer? my grandad died of cancer a severe case and this was 30+ years ago... everytime a treatment comes along the damn government is unsure about using any cure as it could be costly. 30YEARS!! and still no cure for cancer i really dont see the point of folding, you may say im nasty but the truth of the matter is this will do nothing. Too many people are dieing from cancer as it is, hundreds, thousands e.t.c are being spent on research everyday and still f all.

Exactly. The competition is just for fun. As long as you're folding, I'm happy.

I'm sorry to say, I am alreading Folding with another group,
    Asusboards.com.

However, I regularily send people from their forums over here for help.

I do have ATI hardware, but I have less difficulty with the products, so I am not over here that much. I spend most of my online forum time at asusboards.com.

Their board started out of the motherboard, the Asus, CUSL2 and has progressed to now supporting all motherboards in the forums as well as other topics.

I had to choose, and I chose someplace else.
However, I think the bottom line is that I am helping with the Folding process, and even though I may not help the STATs of the Rage3D team, I am helping the Folding process in General. And that is what really counts the most.

This is how I run it myself, nothing to worry about. Just make a shortcut of the [email protected] log and check your progress that way. But either way it's still working, even if you can't see it. I'll let you know if I ever figure it out, but it shouldn't stop you from folding now

I think it has something to do with the 9700. I had that problem too...until I switched over to the no-nonsense text console.

I used to have kind of a similar problem, in fact, I still have it now. When I have a second monitor installed as an extention of my desktop, I can't bring the [email protected] window over to the other, "extended" desktop without it doing the same thing it's doing to you. Also, if I have many programs running and try to view the normal display window, it will often look like that. I've found that right-clicking the icon in the taskbar and choosing Fullscreen allows me to see the display as it is supposed to be seen.

    Good Luck!

started a topic Support Team Rage3D! Start Folding and Save Lives!

Support Team Rage3D! Start Folding and Save Lives!

This is long, but please at least skim it.

Do you want to give back to the community? Do you want to save lives, including lives of loved ones and even your own? Do you want to have a lot of fun in a competition? Do you want to win free prizes? Do you want an avatar without 1000 posts? This is what can be accomplished by joining Team Rage3D and running [email protected]

[email protected] is a small program that you run on your computer. It uses your spare CPU cycles to help cure diseases like cancer and Alzheimer's. You won't even notice it, and you'll be doing a lot of good.

Still not convinced? Here's a short list of some of the reasons why you should be running this program:

    1. SAVE LIVES
This is the obvious one. It cures diseases. You might save your own life running this program.

    2. EASY TO DO
It's easy. You don't have to take a bunch of biology classes or something. Just run a program.

    3. COMMUNITY
You support your favorite site, Rage3D. This is more than a video card site; this is a community. This is one of the many ways you can be a part of this great community.

    4. COMPETITION
It's a fun competition. There are statistics showing which teams are doing best, and stats showing which individuals are doing best. Think you've got the fastest computer at Rage3D? Prove it.

    5. PRIZES
There are prizes! Periodically, we have random drawings amongst active folders for great prizes. There will be more of these drawings in the future, so you better get in on the action before it's too late.

    6. AVATARS
Active members of the team are entitled to an official Team Rage3D avatar without having to wait until 1000 posts. They're available in a variety of colors, and all the cool kids have 'em.

Frankly, I don't see why you wouldn't join the team. For more information about the project, instructions to join, and a place to post your questions, head over to the Distributed Computing Forum.
