Rage3D Discussion Area
Everyone should do a custom install and chose not to install 'Theater Driver', if you did just go to Control Panel and delete the device, unless you have some sort of ATI capture/tv device.
Nothing that results from human progress is achieved with unanimous consent. And those who are enlightened before the others, are condemned to pursue that light in spite of others.

is this the update-able driver profiles ?? Don't say it's so..

yeah but you forgot to use RED.. though I love your ghetto-arraaw

Cant seem to find where i setup the Profiles after install
found this over at Guru3D ... very interesting.. looks like ATI is laying the foundation for update-able driver profiles.. OMG.. just think what will the nVidiots complain about then ?
**note apparently updateable and updatable are not words.. hmm Opera spell check, Word and Merriam-Webster all have no spelling.. so it's not a word huh ?!

Web-based Promise Array Management
a Web-based application that locally or remotely manages the EX4650 Disk Array Controller provided by Promise
Hmm I'm no tto up to date on AMD motherboards but I wonder if someone who is versed in AMD server products might be able to answer that one. Maybe it has something to do with an as of yet unreleased AMD mobo ? Seems weird that AMD would include a 3rd party application unless they (AMD) are going to intergrate it into one of their products.
Hmm also noticed there are drivers and Raid support for the as of yet UNRELEASED 800 series southbridge (RAIDXpert_SB8xx)
and lastly DnDTranscode for Windows 7..
Drag N Drop transcode !!!

Do they fix AF in Dragon Age? Anyone tried that yet?

They did not work at all for me. The sceen blanks out at any 3d game/app, so I could not run any benchmarks or games. They do install correctly though.

WebPAM is for managing your RAID Array on any AMD Chipset. It came with my SB600 MoBo. This is nothing new.
Drag&Drop Transcode is in the driver package for a few months now. Well, at least for the HD 5k cards.

ahh never really noticed either of those before, in particular the DnDTranscode, probally because atm I'm in Vista. I never bothered installing the AMD Raid drivers or software as it was way to limited, I wanted to have Raid on SATA 1 and 2 but use a DVD on SATA 3 and a lone HD on SATA 4.. seems the AMD SB750 only allows an all or nothing approach to software raid. (Another reason I miss using the Abit AT8-32.. ULI+ATI). Any idea why the Promise Raid management software is included ? And does the DnD transcode use the GPU or is it another Avivo (CPU) encoder ?
Oh and I suppose being that you are a Beta Crew (tester) you are probably covered under NDA and would not be able to discuss what the Profile Application is for exactly right ? though if I was to receive an anonymous email at s.k.flynn(AT)gmail(DOT)com I wouldn't object ;-)

The drivers do not support Crossfire, I ran into the same issue last night. Stick with the 9.12 Hotfix.

AMD has supplied us with a document giving information on the improvements that will be implemented over the course of the next months in Catalyst drivers:
- CrossFire X profiles per application will now be in a separate XML file that it will be possible to update independently of the driver itself
- ATI CrossFire X with PowerPlay for the Radeon 5x00s: reduced energy consumption of additional cards
-AMD Dual Graphics: Possibility of combining performances of the IGP of the RS880 with the forthcoming entry level GPUs from the Cedar and Park ranges.
- 3D Stereoscopics: Update of the D3D driver so as to allow third party firms such as IZ3D to use their 3D solution with 120 Hz screens. Support for Bit Cauldron glasses.
- Eyefinity: Bezel Management
- Better GPU acceleration in Windows 7 Video Converter
- Support for DisplayPort Audio (already in the 9.12 hotfix)
- If laptop manufacturers allow it, possibility of installing the Catalysts on a laptop in Vista and 7
- Improvement of 2D performance in Linux
- Support for Ubuntu 9.10 and OpenSUSE 11.2
Crossfire profiles are awesome, they did it just because I bought the 5870's so don't kid yourself.
Too bad this driver dosen't work with Crossfire though

At last! That would go a long way to steer me toward a 5970.

Don't worry, almost done testing here so you can go out and buy one shortly.

Strange that some people have xfire working and others don't.
For those who it fails to work what are your methods of installing drivers?
And it use to work for some people with the older x2 cards where you would install the drivers twice, over each other, and things would be fine.
I tried just updating, driversweep in safe mode etc., but no joy. The driver installs without a hitch, but the system just hard locks on starting a 3D app.
Also. people with Xfire working on this, could you please state if you are using one or two bridges (unless 5970's) ?

It dosen't work on Xfire period, even those on Guru3d have stated as much. Its just a cheesy beta driver. 10.1 will be released soon enough.
Side note: I just formated and tried using them, they don't work in XFIRE, disable XFIRE and it works fine.

I have gone through a pair of 5970's already, and I have to tell you that even though I bench out about 5000 points lower in Vantage (5970 XfireX versus 5870 Xfire) gaming seems to be more responsive/smoother on the 5870's.
FYI, the 5970's were defective - so I RMA'd them and thought I would give the 5870's a try unitl I can get another pair.
Just want to say, tri crossfirex + eyefinity works on these drivers, got 5970 + 5850 working on it, only tested TF2, TF2 runs great! I am using only one bridge since the 5970 only has one connection. I just installed it over 9.12 hotfix. Off I go to test more games.
