Another driver set geared for marketing only.

    Performance Improvements

As with most CATALYST™ releases performance has increased in various situations. The following performance gains are noticed:

    * Further improvements in our Vertex Shader handling bring performance improvements to applications that use stencil shadow volumes. For example, the Battle of Proxycon and Troll's Lair tests gain 10-30% on RADEON™ X800 PRO.
    * Call of Duty framerates improve 5-10% when anti-aliasing is enabled on RADEON™ X800-series products.
    * Aquamark performance is up slightly (2-3%) on RADEON™ X800-series products.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Resolved Game Issues

This section provides information on game issues that have been resolved in the latest release of CATALYST™. These include the following:

    * Setting the D3D option to Optimal Quality and configuring the game Freedom Fighters to 1280x1024 no longer results in display corruption being seen on the test resolution window. This issue occurred under Windows XP with an ALL-IN-WONDER™ 9200 installed
    * The water that surrounds Death Island in the game Halo: Combat evolved is now seen as blue in colour. This issues was known to occur under Windows XP with an ATI RADEON™ 8500 installed
    * Image rendering issues in the Truform room found in Serious Sam are no longer noticed when increasing the Truform level to maximum under the Advanced Rendering Option
    * Flashing textures in the water are no longer noticed when running Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow under Windows XP with an ATI RADEON™ X800 XT installed
    * Playing the game TOCA Race Driver under Windows XP no longer results in the shadows being missing under the car when the shadow quality is set to high

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

OH GOODY GIANT PERFORMANCE INCREASES FOR THE X800 CARDS. I'LL GOES OUT AND BUYS ONE RIGHTS NOW.

I see they fixed the Splinter Cell texture issues. Nice they only mention that it's fixed for the X800 XT. (probably means it's fine on other cards too, but why would anyone without an X800 card bother to install these drivers)

i think we have seen the last of drivers that improve performance on 9800 pros and the similar. its all about x800s now.

Only an idiot is looking for performance increases. People like that are why ATI gets away with the lackluster resources devoted to ACTUALLY FIXING problems. Most of the team works in the 3DMark 2003 research and marketing department.

I know that I dont need any performance improvements on my card. I would like fixes and features more than faster fps.

...and you can expect to see more bugs and game issues created and left unresolved on 9500>9700.

The 9X00 range has just become the 8X00 range. We're about to experience first hand just what all those RAdeon 8500 users were always whining about.

I knew this was coming all along too. Too many fanboys here bent over with ATI's rodeon up their ass for anyone to hear it though.

They couldn't even take the time to properly identify what the new Splinter Cell game is in the release notes. They still call it Pandora's Box under the caution section about forcing AA. This basically means they haven't even taken a glance at these issues (not that I personally care about those though as I can deal without FSAA, that's a very minor issue compared to bugs imo).

Pretty bold statements. Do you perhaps work at ATI? Do you perhaps work in the driver team or software testing group? I mean, you're so confident in your statements you must be an insider. Does it matter that the name of the game is wrong? No, people understand what game it is. How do you know no one has looked at the AA issues? Did it occur to you that the game is not compatible with AA? Did you know that the developer has publicly stated that the game is not compatible with AA? Didn't think so.

I looked at the AA issues for Splinter Cell. I worked with our developer relations team to get feedback from the developer. The same problems persist with Pandora's Tomorrow that is why AA is not supported for these games.
              I speak only for myself.

Actually, I was well aware of that. I'm just pissed you guys could give a **** less about real issues and instead work on For example, the Battle of Proxycon and Troll's Lair tests gain 10-30% on RADEON™ X800 PRO, and Aquamark performance is up slightly (2-3%) on RADEON™ X800-series products.

So you say that ATI didn't look at the AA problems, which is wrong. Then you say that you're aware that the game is not compatible with AA, which flies in the face of your earlier post. Now you say you're trying to help and I don't see anything helpful in your post.
