AMD RDNA 3 “Radeon RX 7000” GPUs Allegedly Hit Almost 4 GHz Clock Speeds, Refined Adaptive Power-Management & Next-Gen Infinity Cache Confirmed

In addition to the 4 GHz rumor, AMD's SVP & Technology Architect, Sam Naffziger, has highlighted that the next-generation RDNA 3 GPUs featured on the Radeon RX 7000 GPUs and next-gen iGPUs, will going to offer a range of new technologies including a refined adaptive power management tech to set workload-specific operation points, making sure that the GPU only utilizes the power required for the workload. The GPUs will also feature a next-gen AMD Infinity Cache which will offer higher-density, lower-power caches and reduced power needs for the graphics memory.

Im a bit wondering how much they cut down on the shader count to get that tho. But def GHZ is a big selling point. I can see why they would want to do it. And they might get more perf with the huge increase in clock speed than a bit more shaders.

Curious to see how this turns out! I'm still not sold on this Infinity Cache gimmick they keep pushing with on GPUs.. but it may work better with a bus that actually has some bandwidth this time. I haven't heard any backtracking from the 384-bit bus rumor. Could be cool to see if they are able to get GDDR6 pushed even further.. if not, I'm sticking to the "they should have went with GDDR6X" line.

Its just a 3 week head start for Nvidia if the announcement of RX 7000 and later availability comes out that same bit later after release of RTX 4k on Oct 12th.

With those kinds of prices I can certainly wait.

Looks like CES keynote is the X3D parts being announced to kibosh intel. Be nice if they also sprinkled a hint of a dual gpu package 7950xt in there somewhere... if that was same price as the 4090 I might go the extra mile being that Im maybe a year away at most from an 8k 120 hz tv/mon at this point.

Moving on to the power consumption side of things, one of MLID’s sources reported that AMD is thinking about launching a “very highly overclockable” GPU. But Team Red apparently doesn’t want to go ham with power consumption until Gen 5 PCIe support for PSUs catches up.

rdna 3 will be faster than a 3090 ti i'm 96% sure in RT also they had to know thy had to beat that

maybe even the 7800 XT

Wasnt the rumor awhile ago the 7600XT would destroy a 6800 or 6900? (i think the rumor evolved closer to a 7800XT being the one that could take down a 6900XT)

Compared to before it seems like this upcoming generation somehow is the "massive gains" generation. with nvidia throwing as much voltage as they possibly can on top of their massive inherent jump.

After seeing just how big of a nuke the 4090 is I'm going to be surprised if RDNA3 can match that type of performance.

My suspicion is we're going to be looking at something halfway between 4090 and 6950 XT performance for the high end card and the price "should" be around $1000-1200.

I'd love to see a neck/neck horse race here but I doubt it.

Yesterday they came out with the tidbit that RDNA3 supports DP 2.1. If thats the case I think it can do 8k120 or 4k240 at least in some games. But if RDNA3 doesnt have frame gen tech then sure the 4090 wins easily in those cases. Raw raster I think RDNA will win some lose some. Saying its 30-40% faster then 6950xt doesnt make sense to me. It has 2.5 x more shaders and much more vidram mem bw. And core speeds have been widely said to be 3 ghz.

It has to be 80% faster at a bare minimum.

Yup, it is an awesome card.

Unlike the 16GB 4080, those performance slides that nvidia released were not that impressive when you take dlss 3.0 out of the equation, they want 4080 Ti money for vanilla 4080 performance.

So I really, really hope that AMD can deliver a card that embarrasses 16 GB version.

AMD RDNA 3 “Navi 31” Rumors: Radeon RX 7000 Flagship With AIBs, 2x Faster Raster & Over 2x Ray Tracing Improvement

as per the leaker, the AMD RDNA 3 GPUs featured on the Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards are delivering up to a 2x performance increase in pure rasterization workloads and over 2x gains within ray tracing workloads. It is not mentioned in the RDNA 2 GPU is the RX 6900 XT or RX 6950 XT but even if we look at the 6900 XT, the RDNA 2 chip offered superior performance in raster vs the RTX 3090 and came pretty close to the RTX 3090 Ti while the RX 6950 XT excelled over it. A 2x improvement in this department would mean that AMD would easily compete and even surpass the performance of the RTX 4090 in a large section of gamers.
