cooled two gtx 980's and the cpu fine for two weeks without fans when i forgot to plug them back in once

Ice Giant is pretty much one of the best coolers for threadripper tho and has a high watts cooling capacity. I think the copper version will do a lot better on smaller packages.

I mean if the all aluminium model can handle 500w easy the copper one might be able to go a bit further.

The only reason it's one of the best for TRX is because most coolers do not have mounting for it..

The cooler gets outclassed by most 360mm AIOs on the market and in terms of performance/noise, it's completely outclassed .. not even remotely competitive.

They haven't said much about making blocks for AMD GPUs, but let's be honest .. there's way more customers looking for NV blocks, so kind of have to prioritize the larger market as a small company.

The acrylic they use is not the cheapo stuff you see from Alphacool and other companies. Apparently this acrylic is extremely heavy-duty. I'm also a fan of Acetal tops (and I also prefer a blacked-out design rather than RGB-puke-bling or seeing the fluid in the block) but hopefully down the road we see more options.

They just moved to a new Cerakote finish rather than anodized Nickel - apparently it's better for heat transfer and removes the chance of nickel flaking.

yeah, the Heatkiller IV Pro is a monster! I love mine .. runs phenomenal on my 10900K mounted direct-die. They said they have plans for a new model (Heatkiller V) for 2022 .. hoping we see that as well. I'll need a new block for the Intel X299 successor

well i marked them and may well give them a try if they make a block for RDNA 3 that is first this time with me


and may well skip lovelace along with ampere depends on prices
not going to drop 4k on two cards that i can only use one at a time
having both is not that big of deal without SLI/CFX

i do like they are made here
my AM4 block is a all copper EK and it has been fine
and my 2080 ti Strix just doesn't need it it's fine on air

but i do think RDNA 3 will need water .

i got 5k+ in water crap around here only using about a third of it

my case has a pump header and reservoir combo for 6 D5 pumps that i made make out 9 feet 1 1/4 inch id copper hevey wall pipe i had left over from a A/c job
all touching the case aluminum and tranfering heat to the case
was how i realized my fans were off the case was warm to the touch

all i care about is i can't hear it at all

7700xt might be good enough with current stuff as most gpus can handle the raster side of things pretty well. The one outlier maybe UE5 tho some demos seems to work fine on consoles. But if UE5 based games pushes things hard then we might need that huge rumored increase in raster capability from both vendors.

Infinity Cache doesn't hurt mining .. it's just AMD using slower GDDR6 with a tiny bandwidth bus.

AMD could release a card with a big bus, gddr6x, and infinity cache.. and it would perform just as well as any other card with matching throughput lol

infinity cache or smaller bus it still has a low hashrate even compaired to AMD's last gen only about 10 more than a 5700 xt
well RDNA 3 will be the same bus and bigger Infinity Cache from what i have read so it still will not mine as well as NV

Yeah, doesn't mine as well because the memory bandwidth is poor.

The hash difference is fitting for 448gb/s vs 512gb/s. Infinity Cache doesn't do anything - card still performs exactly as a 256-bit bus with gddr6 would.

AMD needs to make a big step with memory on the 7000 series, otherwise it'll be the limiting factor on the card at 4K. If they increase memory throughput, you'll see the mining capability skyrocket.

I truly hope they don't make the mistake of a 256-bit bus again, and drop the gimmick infinity cache that did nothing for the 6000 series.

Not me. If the 7900 turns out to be as good a card as you think (taken with a grain of salt) and costs £1,500 I'll probably buy it TBH. THe only caveat is it has to be air cooled as I don't do water cooling. Well not yet anyway And before you say anything, yes I've tended to slag off AMD drivers but to be fair I did own AMD cards for 10 years so I earned the right.

badsykes prices are not coming down anytime soon I'm afraid. Here in the UK we're back to working from home if you can (I can but I don't..I'm a rebel) so prices are going up again on GPU's. A new 6900XT is £1,800 and a new 3090 £2,100.

I saw a 2nd hand Palit 3090 in a nationwide retail store for £2,300 and for a laugh I asked them how much they would give me for my card and they offered me £1,800 or £250 more than I paid for it and it's 12 moths old this week. They had a Red Devil 6900XT for £1,200 so I could have sold my card and pocketed £600. I politely declined their offer.

The moral of this story is the 7700 is not going to be half the price and as powerful as a 6900XT. Sadly high prices will be with us for longer than people think because there are people who will pay the price.

nope unless proof of stake ever gets turned on but it's over what a full year late now and not going in to june now
they keep pushing it off 6 months

without that most miners will keep going with the 3000 cards they got and keep sucking up all of both 3000's and 4000's they can get
hell some are using 3060's or lower and 2000 cards for mining now
