Twice today I got newegg notification emails for 6900xt. On one email with a 240PM time stamp I was on the web page at 241PM. Gone, no chance to get it. The first email I let a whole five minutes go, which was obviously way too much.

Newegg tells me that they have some 'great bot destroyers' lol

Uh yah no. Rumor going around the paid for bots are using the business API to put in orders as soon as it hits and are able to clean them out in seconds. No matter what the truth is, the email notifications are (can confirm here) a total waste of time. 1 minute is not fast enough.

I get great deals on Flights from and to Germany or Austria because google pulls info from Airlines before the Airlines even put the prices up.

Probably not that cool for buying mega graphics.

neweggs "notification" system lags behind hard. Like sometimes hours behind the actual stock hard. Do not rely on it.

Seems I truly lucked out getting stuff at or near MSRP. Even the motherboard I bought was the last one available in all of Dubai at only 30 over MSRP (cheaper than getting on egg or Amazon).

Also if you need to buy anything, you need to be on the streams.

I feel very lucky to have been able to get these ordered this year and all for msrp.

            1. 3090 FE on launch day, via URL that added to cart automatically. Order was then carried out manually. Sold this to a friend.
            2. 5600x, 5800x, and 5950x via amazon w/bot. Cancelled first two. Kept the latter.
            3. 6800xt via amazon w/bot. Arrives this evening.

I'm done now ordering for me until I can get the longer term option I'm really after, which is a 3 pci-e connector 6900xt aib card like asrock phantom or red devil. I am still running the bot though, trying to get a 3080 for a co-worker and a sapphire 6800xt reference for a personal friend.

Yeah too bad my bots kept hitting captcha. Otherwise I would’ve been botting all day lol.

The 6800XT actually shipped? Amazon did not update my order until the day after it didnt arrive on scheduled date. But it never did say it was out for delivery.

For the first time today saw an XFX 6800 Merc Speedster actually for sale in the UK. The retail price mind you was £750 which is about £200 above MSRP. This is about a 36% increase for a marginal performance gain on the founders edition. That's close to the price of a 3080 which makes it the worse value card I've seen yet. Absolute bonkers. Either the retailer or the AIB or probably both are trying to screw us over with that pricing.

An hour later I saw about half a dozen on sale on Ebay for between £949 and £999 so we all knew who bought them don't we.

                    Affirm. Installed it tonight.

Sadly I have too much on my plate to test it until the weekend.

Ya Riptide, congrats and can't wait for the benchies. Even nV is joining in the celebration, you can now enjoy the full Ray pathing of Quake 2 RTX!

Radeons could already do pathtracing on Quake 2. For like 3 years or more. I played around with the mod when it first came out. What you are rerfering to is a pathtracing mod that was only written for RTX in mind.

download it there, performs better than the NV PR vulkan based version, for Radeons, at least for now.

Considering how poorly it runs on NV, I can only imagine how unplayable it would be on AMD cards considering the lower RT performance.

You know, this stock situation is really aggravating. Not that I'm looking for a 6800/6900 XT (I'm not), but if I was, I'd be really peeved right now. No inventory in sight.

When I bought my 3080 it was after a frustrating search for MSRP, until I gave in to a little markup.

Now I want to rebuild my office PC with a Ryzen 5800x and that's another stock ordeal.

Wanted to buy a PS5 yet that is ANOTHER sol product.

Can't wait for the day when you can just buy a product online and have it 3d printed in your home. Of course I'll be dead or reincarnated into one of Harambe's great great great grand chimps by then.

I tried the Vulkan Quake 2 RTX yesterday and it was playing way faster than before.

To me if a miner buys a card he uses it. Not for gaming maybe but he at least takes it out of the box sticks it in a rig and uses it. A scalper doesn't even open the box he is not interested in what is inside he purely wants to sell it for as big a mark up as he can get as quickly as possible. Pathetic. Scum.

They only exist as long as supply from AMD (inc MS/Sony) & Nvidia is so bad. Once demand begins to normailise the bubble will burst and the scalpers will find something else to scalp. What will be interesting is where the pricing ends up. Are the prices we are seeing now the new MSRP? Hope not but who knows.

Anyway I'm sorted for the next four years so I won't have any skin in the game I'm afraid I'll just be a bystander.

The RX 6800 XT graphics cards generate 59 MH/s at 230 Watts out of the box and after tuning, can produce 64 MH/s at 170 Watts leaving the XR 5700 XT as the top pick for Ethereum mining. We expected more from the RX 6800 XT, but suspect this card will remain an excellent pick for gamers leaving the more affordable and cost effective RX 5700 XT currently as the best graphics card for mining Ethereum.

In 2020, the best GPU for mining Ethereum & Ethereum Classic is the RX 5700 XT. We were able to produce 52.1 MH/s with a low power draw of 105 Watts

It's sure been an "Annus horribilis" for sure. If someone had told me two months ago I'd be sat here today waiting for a new 3090 to hopefully arrive tomorrow I'd have wet my pants with laughter. Yet here we are. Strange things do indeed happen.

Now I've got my PC gaming mojo back the XseriesX is off the table not interested anymore. I'll stick with my XboneX for at least the next 12 months.

it wouldn't be the first time they sold to miners AMD also

and i don't see NV denying it and i can't find any evidence they didn't
your welcome to prove them innocent as a lamb

so don't know but what i read

                                                    .......
and my main point to Nascar24 ampere is still a much better mining card than Big Navi

so Big Navi will not be a big seller for mining but NV will with bitcoin price 21,338.10

they are better off with 5700's on the AMD side

                                                    ......

and i think i will give more weight to wccftech than digital foundry anymore

Treating myself with something crazy is something I don't do, generally. The last time was my 7970 OC at $679 in 2012.

Right now Microcenter is showing 1 6900XT in stock @ $999. I don't know if that's stock leftover from yesterday (and they'll get more in today) or if that's today's stock. I'm not going to find out because I don't want to buy it anymore.

Cyberpunk was a big reason for me wanting to upgrade, and the fact that the game is about 25% of what I'd hoped... makes me a little depressed to be honest. Add to that, the $1800 3090 can't run it with RT at 4k I just don't want anything to do with buying new hardware right now.

                                                                        Comment

Early drivers and beta games might not be giving us the fuill kibosh on the eprf of the current gen of hw. but if it is that limited I might skip to navi3/rtx4k with a good transistor count boost on 5nm and hopefully a post covid price world.

Add to that, the $1800 3090 can't run it with RT at 4k I just don't want anything to do with buying new hardware right now.
An easy solution is simply not to run in 4K. The guys who adopted 4K a couple years ago just bought themselves a huge problem. The GPU power has never been there to push it, and you can see that remains the case even now. Developers are going to target mainstream resolutions of 1080P and to a lesser extent 1440P with their effects, and if it runs like **** at 4K then oh well. You either turn down settings, or don't run 4K until GPUs can actually support it in like half a decade. That's pretty much what you have to expect when you're running on the bleeding edge.

4K would have been viable sooner, but unfortunately Nvidia stopped from pushing rasterization performance to add RT instead. So, now it's going to take longer to become viable. Lack of sufficient rasterization performance has been a problem for VR as well, at least when you get into higher res headsets, although it's no longer as much of an issue as it once was.

                                                                            Comment

Well if we get a ubiquitous upscaling tech that can run on any graphics engine that can do TAA for example then 4k does become viable sooner. It seems to be the AMD approach according to rumors to avoid having devs put in a vendor specific tech on each and every game as Nvidia's DLSS requires.

Again cant buy into the new gen until AMD's SR is put out. It alone can justify the price of admission and also give this pricey gpu generation some value when reselling for the huge upgrades to RT the next gpus will feature.

But even then I cant see these gpus having 4-5 years of life in them as we have seen in the past. 2 years at best.

I plan on staying at 1440p, but if I change my mind in the future and go 4k I want to get rid of a $500 video card rather than an $1800 one. RT seems to have f***ed this entire generation of video cards.

Easily 100% faster than my 5700XT which is where I expected it to be. In Superposition it never went above 70c and it's so quite during gaming. My Time Spy Gfx score went from 8,933 to 18,587. Said result was better than 98% so got to be happy with that. I haven't even tried RT & DLSS yet.

I think this card will easily last 4 years at 1440p at least. With this card it just automatically loads all game benchmarks to Ultra so in a few years if I need to lower it a notch I'm not bothered. I've never played anything in other than high so no big deal.

I won't try and justify the cost it's insane but I paid it and now I'm going to enjoy it. At 1440p, for me at least, this card is a beast.
