    Epic Games and 5600XT

Hey guys, ran into a weird problem with an upgrade from 5500XT 4gb to 5600XT 6GB.

The 5600TX (Pulse) crashes to desktop playing Snowrunner and Mech Warrior 5.

Running these games on the 5500XT was without issues.

Bringing back the card to the retailer, they ran rocket lleague for a while
without issues but Counter Strike did crash 3 times.

Is the 5600 worst in terms of drivers than the 5500 or 5700?

    Halp!

    (Rest of system:
    Asus TUF B450M
    Ripjaws 3200Mhz
    WD Blue M.2
Windows 10 2004 with mega patch.
    Adrenaline 20.9.1
    HDMI to Samsung TV)

Let me guess you upgraded from 5500XT to 5600XT without reinstall driver? I suggested you should had done that. But if it worked fine without reinstalled driver, try to run factory setting reset on AMD driver panel setting.

A guy I recently talked to that I know has a 5600XT and he was still having issues with the Black screen issue. Even though it was suppose to have been taken care of in drivers recently.

Of course I cleaned (DDU) and reinstalled.

        Seems the 5600 is finicky...

Here is what I found thus far:
        Anti-Lag
Disable if you are experiencing issues. Some games love it (Snowrunner)
        Some games hate it (MW5)

Also, if you get a DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG
        set this reg key:

        KeyPath : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers
        KeyValue : TdrDelay
        ValueType : REG_DWORD
ValueData : Number of seconds to delay. 2 seconds is the default value.

Set a QWORD if your game is 64 bit.
Set it to 8 or in my case 16.
I will rey a campaign tomorrow, but I was able to place a single match
where the game would not even start before these changes...

The rdna cards are finicky with power. Run separate rails for both power plugs.

It sounds to me like you just got a bum card. Try to swap out for another one.

If even back at the store it crashed in CS then the card isn't working right. Sometimes it really can just be faulty hardware.

I wonder what bios version does your 5600 XT Pulse using?

You can check it out through GPU-Z. What are the odds that it might still used old version.

You can always try this before you return your card to the shop.

Thought of the BIOS, the one I have is dates March 2020, 2 months newer that the new bioses.

I did a lot of tests this morning.

Underclocked by 100mhz and I was able to play a mission,
however it crashed immediately after that and crashes within a minute or so of being in the game.

I suspect a thermal issue but i have a case open with Sapphire and the game developer.

Hopefully someone has a diagnostic tool that an trap the failure and find the root cause...

Can you just return the card? That's what I'd do if I were you. With new cards launching there may be a better card available in the same price range in the next couple of months.

I exchanged it for a TUF 5600 version 3, however the head office (Canada Computers)
no longer ships RX 5X00 to stores so they are getting one from another store.

Do you still have a RX 5500 XT? Keep it for your backup GPU. I'm sure Oct 28th won't be too long to wait. It is worth waiting and see what AMD offers the latest RDNA 2 GPUs.

Actually, I though of this, but I never buy a new GPU within 6 months of launch.
Even the 5700 I have in my main rig, I waited before a wave of improvements in drivers.
I prefer a reliable experience vs latest and greatest...

                            Also, it is still 7nm.

Quick update that the replacement 5600 is totally flawless, so I did get a bad card.

FYI really happy with the TUF Evo 3 5600 from Asus.

Even during benchies, the card never goes above 60C while being whisper quiet.
