I don't know where to post this:

But there is a patch for Shift and a read about its performance benefits for AMD products:

EA said that the new game patch increases ATI graphics card support in general and we confirmed that as well by noting a 26% performance increase by updating the game and installing the latest beta driver by ATI.

This is definately a fair point. I'm using a monster of a tower case, and if these cards were any longer at all, they'd be inside the drive bays.

I was considering one now, and then a second later 5770's I guess this now confirms this for me. A 4890 or 4870X2 will just fit in my case.

Sorry for perhaps asking a stoopid question, but what tools are people using to overclock this card? Is there a tool to increase clockspeeds and voltages or do you have to use two different tools for each?

jam2k, do you want us to split the 57xx stuff into a separate thread, or have this one renamed to to include both 58xx & 57xx?

I had 2 4870 in crossfire, now im using 1 5870, and that gave me 10-20% performance boost + the games looks better on the samme settings.

Idle power is lower, Load is higher for the 5870
Lower idle and either equal or lower load for the 5850 is my guess.

A little more than a year after ATI shocked us with its Radeon HD 4870, it's launching the first DirectX 11 GPU, which packs more than just the promise of next-gen compatibility. We got our hands on a pair of 5870s and spent a week benchmarking them.

MSI's Afterburner is nice. I'm up to 1030|1300 on my HD 5870 so far. That's worth 18.1k GPU using the performance setting in Vantage.

Don't ever flash a 5870's BIOS it is a nightmare getting it working correctly as I found out today.

2D clock speeds will be raised when 120Mhz monitors are used as the current 2D clock speed isn't good enough. That is currently in progress.

    @ Final8ty

No why would they? since it has always worked like that on previous cards. If you dont want it like that then use the new amdgpuclock util which supports 58xx cards. You can't change the voltage with that though so you need to be careful.
