Guys you might be interested with this utility (from Guru3D) that can adjust the voltage of any 5800 cards.
I tried with mine (HIS) and it works perfectly.

Wow techpowerup actually was right with their conversion...The 5870 is overpriced.Special delivery for people that just go to the "best" .........At 250$ i might change my 4850..."There is no beggining, and there is no end. There is no alpha, and there is no omega. You never began, and you will never end."

Since I have a 3870x2, is it worth getting a 5850 instead?Originally posted by ShaidarHaranDrink the beer you must. Now you will. Ignore the consequences, says Yoda. Drunken you must become. Like Yoda, you will be.

Im running 1920x1200 but I always lover it when running new games since the 3870x2 has only 512mb ram and it really cant handle 1920x1200 well :/
I never use AA/FSAA/whattayellyallcallingit since I rally cant see the use of itBut with the 58xx series it might be worth it since it seems so little performance decrease
Btw, any idea to try to sell the 3870x2?Originally posted by ShaidarHaranDrink the beer you must. Now you will. Ignore the consequences, says Yoda. Drunken you must become. Like Yoda, you will be.

Just got my 5870 this morning. It replaced my 4870 x2.Runs much quieter and cooler than the x2.Ran a few benches and they are about even speed wise with the 5870 just edging it with dx10 vantage but the x2 just ahead in 3dmark06.Crysis warhead played better much slicker and seemed to look nicer and played for about a hour on highest settings doing 40 to 50 fps.Bring on dx11 cant wait.Temp running warhead maxed at 60c and its now running 38c idle where my x2 would run 60c idle and 90 load and sound like a jet on takeoff.

I have just ordered a 5870, Sapphire - which was the only one in stock actually.
I hope it fits my case.

"Damage control" I think is the appropriate phrase at the moment.

And DAMN what a difference! Only game I tried so far that I played on the 3870x2 is Stalker and now it runs at 1920x1200 (ran 1680x1050 before) and maximum settings and its smooth like butter
Just installed Aion and its also smooth as butter at maxium
AND the card is MUCH quiter and much cooler too!Originally posted by ShaidarHaranDrink the beer you must. Now you will. Ignore the consequences, says Yoda. Drunken you must become. Like Yoda, you will be.

Don't ever flash a 5870's BIOS it is a nightmare getting it working correctly as I found out today.
2D clock speeds will be raised when 120Mhz monitors are used as the current 2D clock speed isn't good enough. That is currently in progress.
@ Final8ty
No why would they? since it has always worked like that on previous cards. If you dont want it like that then use the new amdgpuclock util which supports 58xx cards. You can't change the voltage with that though so you need to be careful.Last edited by spyre; Oct 7, 2009, 11:48 AM.I do work for AMD

Lower idle and either equal or lower load for the 5850 is my guess.------Squachbox 2022------
