    Discussion Thread:
I've decided to open new (and close old one) thread about new ATT beat versions with HD 4xxx support. Today I've received two HD 4850 and I must say...

    Beta Download:
    http://cid-a50350ea7a969f0c.skydrive...c/attsetup.exe
Saw some user feedback on Hardforum saying it doesn't work with Vista 64-bit, don't know whether it's true or not however.

It would not work with vista 64 because you need to digitally sign the driver your self or run a program that goes into your bios every restart and allows for low level drivers.

                      Really? Let me try.

EDIT: No stuttering at all for me!

                        Already implemented:
                        1. Temperature reading
                        2. Overclocking with voltage control (on 4850 you can set one step higher voltage than stock 3D voltage. Tested by me with multimeter
                        3. FAN control
Sounds good, especially fan control. Going to give it a shot. Ideally I want to be able to decrease idle clocks to something like 160 MHz, have a separate "idle voltage" and also make the fan ramp up faster under load. All in software without the risk of corrupting the BIOS.
"Son, no one gives a **** about all the things your cell phone does. You didn't invent it, you just bought it. Anybody can do that."

The bios? What does that have to do with the Vista kernel mode driver signing policy?

Any news on whether or not you can change the 3D voltage on a 3870?

I'm going to try it myself later tonight or tomorrow, just figured I'd ask =P

No I don't mean the bios, my point though is that it does a series of steps every restart before booting into windows.

ReadyDriver Plus works for me on SP1 x64. It is a boot manager type app, it replaces your windows boot entry and then manipulates the vista boot manager to simulate the keystrokes to enter the boot menu advanced options and select disable driver signing.

                                                        Awesome little tool

At last , I can overclock my HD4870 with high RPM fan speed because AMD GPU Clock would only OC and the fan would run at default 24% and that held me back because of heat

                                                        Vista 32bit , that is

I have a small problem with this program.

When I create a fan table and hit apply, my videocard loses its Powerplay functionality. It's always at the clocks selected under the Overclocking tab, even if I've unchecked the "Include clocks in profile" checkbox. If I change the clock under Overclocking to 625/993, it doesn't underclock in 2D. If I leave them at 500/750, it doesn't switch to the normal clockspeed when running 3d apps (checked with GPU-Z).

I don't even want to change the clocks, only the fan speed.

You have the ability to create a 2D and 3D profile and it will apply the selected clocks. I have 500/900 for 2D and 825/1000 for 3D and it switches just fine for me.

What's worse - I restarted my PC, ATI Tray Tools is not in autostart. Still the card is stuck at 2D clocks even when rendering 3D. The program must have messed up some registry setting or driver configuration.

How do I get back the correct settings and restore Powerplay?

I first ran 3DMark and scored within 100 points of my last submitted score, around 10k. I then used the Overdrive in the ATI CCC to downclock the card to 500/750 and ran 3DMark again. This time I scored much lower, 8k something.

One issue that is definitely caused by Tray Tools are micro-stutters however. It's smooth but there are constant hickups, maybe once or twice a second. Maybe they happen when ATT polls the card for temp readings or updates the fan speed on the card. As soon as I exit ATT, the stutters disappear.

Too bad - running the fan at 36% dropped my idle temps from 80C to 62C and even lowered my case temp by 1.5C. At 36%, the fan is still inaudible in my system. I then set the fan to increase its speed rather aggresively - it's a little louder than before in 3D mode, but the temp can't be more than 70-ish instead of 88C. But I can't use it at the moment because of the stutters.
