Rumor, rumor Alive from the Dead...

It would be nice to see them back being the ex-3Dfx owner I am

    "Former 3DFX form New Company, 3DPower! - June 6, 11:56PM by Mr.Tweak
More live (VERY EXCLUSIVE) coverage here from Computex 2001, Taiwan. Former employees of 3DFX (including x-CTO, Scott Sellers) will be announcing a totally new company called 3DPower this Monday!

We have been informed that about 90% of the former employees of 3DFX will be working for this company, according to our source 3DPower will be debuting with a graphics card called the 3DPower Absolute, which is believed to be based around the 3DFX RamPage graphics chipset - SLI may not be gone after all. The PCB of the card will be black with gold componets seated in a nifty wooden box.

It seems 3DPower has secretly formed this new company without nVidia nor 3DFX knowing, what will nVidia have to say about this? - It could raise some serious legal issues. We should be able to speak to nVidia about this tomorrow. We also must stress that this information has not been confirmed, but it does come from a reliable source. Again this is not confirmed, but as I see it 3DPower and Absolute Multimedia have merged, which potentially could make one very influential company. Take care!"

    "LET THERE BE LIGHT!!!"
    Then it was over.
    Light has shone.
    And it was good.

nVIdia owns the Voodoo brand name
Therefore if there ever was a Voodoo6 it'd have to be by nVidia (or with their permission)

            Same People Same Results

Well if its the same people for the most part then they will end up making same crap products. They blew it big time last time and untill they show some new super duper silicon I wont care. Yeah sure this is being negative but hell I never liked their products.

Sounds unlikely if you ask me. I think a lot of the engineers got hired by Nvidia and I don't think they are that loyal to quit and work for a startup. Besides they probably can't work for a technology company for a year or something after Nvidia (inside tech knowledge etc.).

well to me it sounds a little fishy - however i from what i have heard about ex-3dfx employees - they are a very loyal bunch. however if i were them i would question working for your old boss - who drove the company into the ground...

i would like to see it though - and the legal fight that comes with it - cause while they fight it out - ATI will take the market. hehe

                        NVidia OWNS Rampage tech

It better not resemble the Rampage too much , then they will get their collective a$$es sued by NVidia. They bought all that tech from 3DFx when they went belly up.
