You know, because things like gaskets don't exist. The more interesting thing would be forcing them to have an easy way to connect/disconnect since soldering won't work anymore, and the industry has moved away from hardshell batteries with fixed connectors.

I'm sure they'll have to make it hard shell cause they know people will buy spares to swap out just like in the old days. I wonder how big a capacitor they need for hot swap or if you can access the battery from the front so your wireless charging can allow you to hot swap.

Probably the easiest thing would be to make the battery/back/wireless charger a single unit (cutout for the cameras, etc). Pop a screw, lift off the back cover, put it in recycling and add the new cover.

Could be an aftermarket for otterbox covers etc and remove the standalone cases in that scenario.

Maybe it's just me, but I've never dropped my phone in water deep enough / for long enough that I needed the higher spec waterproofing.
If I was going to be working around water or just a clutz then that's why they make waterproof cases.

I just don't get the fixation some people have on being able to drop their phone in a lake and get it back and still working 3 months later.

To me that's not normal phone activity.
You get a case or a high end ultra durable phone if that's the type of stuff you find yourself doing.

I'd much rather have one or two SD slots and a replaceable battery and buy a waterproof case when I need it then not have the option but be able to go fishing with my phone tied to the anchor.

The batteries are not usually soldered in anyway with either Android or Apple. Just that almost all phones are designed in ways that make servicing a nightmare when they don't have to be.

yeah as far as I know they're all removable. They are just enclosed completely that you cant easily remove them without taking the entire phone apart.
How else would these refurbishing companies install new batteries in them if they're soldered into place?
