I know Rage3D is a big source of Bulls*** these days, but Hybrid's post is perfectly feasible. When you install UT2003 it runs DX setup without asking, so it might be giving you a newer build than you have already... or maybe 'refreshing' what you have already. Don't be so hard on the poor chap!

I think it installs an update to D3D so i suppose its possible.

ya, the direct3d update probably sped things up a little bit. And I know the retail copy is faster than the demo.

That's great for HybridHB, but i would have preferred to be asked before they updated my DirectX because I had already installed the latest version. Sometimes they automate things a little too much.

Normally, a DX version switching would require a reboot. Have you been asked for a reboot after game installation?

It does ask for a reboot after its finished. I too did get a speed increase, though it was only 4-5fps.
when we are dreaming, and as often happens, have a dim consciousness of the fact and try to wake, do we not say and do things which in waking life would be insane? May we not then sometimes define insanity as an inability to distinguish which is the waking and which the sleeping life? We often dream without the least suspicion of unreality: 'Sleep hath its own world', and it is often as lifelike as the other.
