Well seems okay to me. Runs good on my 6700xt. Guns sound louder to me. They have a million field upgrades which might take some adapting. Only played a few maps in 6v6 but they seemed decent so far. I like that they have two sides for the operators, although I suppose it didn't make a huge difference in vanguard. No stupid end of round top 3 animations either.

The sound is now raytraced and from the YT videos I've watched.... Reminds of when we used to have proper 3D audio back in the day. I could see myself playing this game by ear alone if I liked COD games.

The audio is super weird to me, like it's low-res.


But otherwise, it feels like a CoD, screaming children over voice chat included... dear lord, the children.


Edit: I fixed the audio quality issue. The headphones mix setting sucks balls.

Well I generally like it. maps are pretty good. sound is nice. I'm not sold on the new perk system. Perks are grouped and you gain perks through the match. Also the weapon unlock system seems like a mess. You have to use specific guns to unlock other guns. Not a fan of that. Just put them behind levels as usual.

It's pretty close to mw2019 but the audio for footsteps is quite accurate and so you can just walk/crouch and listen to people run around corners for kills. So I guess it can be more campy, but to me feels like counter-strike. Also since ghost is a late game perk now, uav is great for most of the match, which I think sort of opens it up for being aggressive with recon up. And you also have snapshot nades and cameras. I play pretty aggressive in cod games (lots of captures in dom) and I don't really think this game is that campy. People sure are whining about it though.

32v32 Ground War is a better battlefield game than battlefield. But once again they've left the killstreak/scorestreak system the same as 6v6. Makes it a complete mess due to things being called in so often. UAV UAV UAV COUNTER UAV UAV COUNTER CRUISE. I'd love for them to just double or triple the killstreak req in ground war, just to make it a bit more reasonable. You can still have it, just reduce it. Also ground war has been really unstable, lots of jittery movements and lag and sync issues.

I like that you can hear people sliding around corners which such accuracy that it almost becomes a wall hack.

Game still needs a bit of technical work though. Flashing in kill cam is annoying. My graphics settings reset every time I launch the game, and it puts me at 50% render resolution. I thought I'd gone blind for a second.

Visually I find it somewhat disappointing. It's not much different from mw2019 but it has been 3 years. Some effects are a bit cheap, some maps are not great looking. Lighting could be better. Mmaybe the levels are a bit plain/cartoony to help with target acquisition. I'd prefer some highlights on characters instead. It's probably just about getting it to run well on Xbone and Pee Es Fore

Yup! That's why you only see people running around in the start of Counter-Strike games. Everyone starts walking and crouch walking because it's too easy to be pinpointed by sound alone. It's the same thing in any on-line game with good 3D audio.

Fornite's zero build mode can go almost silent in the late stages of games on certain parts of the map as well. The 3D audio is good enough to pinpoint front, behind, above, below, floor type and distance. Which is enough to know where to pre-aim, toss a nade, dip another team/ambush them and etc.

Why I wish more games had audio like this. Was far more common for it to be this good in the past when Direct3D audio was common place.

I meant the mode that is large scale domination, so I guess I meant ground war.


Also tried some pew pew in TDM, and yes the positional audio is good, but at the same time, foot steps are LOUD, way too loud IMO.

Dont they usually have a preset sound setting for specific speaker setups (like headphones, 2 speaker, 4+ speaker, etc)?
Wouldnt that usually fix these types of audio balancing?

Yes. Although I don't know if it effects this specifically. But I did notice that footsteps didn't seem as overtly in your face others I have heard in YT videos. Still very loud though and the game could do with balancing that out. I set my sound-mix to cinema I think as I assumed that would be full-range audio.

yeah same as overwatch 2, they're trying to stop smurfs and banned people from being able to easily come back. Not sure if it will make a huge difference but might had a few extra hoops for people to jump through.
