    Games Finished January 2022

In our 5th year doing this it is amazing how many members are participating throughout. I hope it has helped you as it helped me keeping my backlogs in check while enjoying my games.

As many have seen, I have completed a lot of games last year and still managed to do my hobbies, take care of family, career and the occasional travel (not counting 2020).

Not every month someone will be finishing a lot, as there are months where a person just can't finish anything. Then you got that streak going in another month.

Also, if you plan to replay the game, it is fine but don't repeat it at a later month as first completion is what counts.

Another thing is the criteria of what is considered completed in unclear games such as team based multiplayer games; I would say set a target for that. E.g. I considered Overwatch completed when I reached level 100. Or when I finished story mode (which was a long movie sequence) in Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator. You decide what you consider is completed as long as it is reasonable to a certain extend and correlate-able to a single player experience.

DLC completed at a separate time from the main game and has enough content (+1 hour) can be counted as a separate completion.

Console completions can be accepted as long as the main focus is still PC overall.

    Completed Games:
680-Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2
    681-Blazing Chrome
    682-Black Mesa

Greetings everyone and another year has passed. We dropped from 2020 completions but still scored the second most completions since 2017. Most of you were active in this backlog "tracking" and we did lose some of you for various reasons and for those we hope all is well and you can join us again anytime when you feel like it or ready for it (apologies in advance if something uneventful happened and I am unaware of it).

With that said, here is my damage list:

680-Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2: This retro themed version sequel is way harder but also still fun. It has replayability but I didn't for that as the difficulty spike was a bit too much for me.

681-Blazing Chrome: Played this co-op with a friend using remote play together on steam. Amazing fun and quite challenging. Highly recommended with a friend.

682-Black Mesa: This remake was way more than just that. I barely can remember HL1 and playing this had brought some of the things I remember but it had so much new stuff added that made it so great. I really enjoyed my time with it. They even expanded the alien world by a few chapters! Highly recommended for HL fans and those looking for a solid classic shooter.

Whoo I am winner this month (so far).

                  4

Scrapland Remastered - Rose colored glasses colored my memories of this game as something special and unique. Upon initial playthrough of the remaster, it all fit. After a number of hours, realized the open-endedness of the game was actually a detriment, and that the devs clearly had really big ideas concerning the different abilities of the bots you could possess that never got implemented. They nailed the aesthetic though.

Hot Wheels Unleashed - Game doesn't deserve its very positive scores. Somehow the most boring racing game I've played. Tracks are all very same-y. Somehow the Trackmania games, even the early ones managed to prevent this.

Horizon: Zero Dawn - Took me almost six months but I finally punched through the last couple of chapters. Somehow playing Fallen Order helped me to understand HZD better. Also the game had an uncanny knack of getting you into giant battles only for you to win with half a bar of health and no potions. At least that was my experience. Will keep it installed since there is DLC to finish but not sure if I will get a round tuit.

Halo 3 - I enjoyed this one batter than 1 and 2. Weapons/ammo seemed more plentiful and the constant-respawn of enemies mechanic wasn't as badly in use.

                      Hooray, new year, new lists!

For 2022, I've knocked it out of the park in January with nine games finished. That's a personal all time record for me. Of course, I've semi-cheated my way to that record with a bunch of very short titles, but still.

In terms of quality, it's a mixed bag. Here goes:
                      • A Plague Tale: Innocence. Game of the Month, I guess, though I found it merely alright. The story goes a little crazy, the gameplay is a little stiff; you could consider it a AA title with a touch of Eurojank.
                      • Beat Saber. VR as an (additional) gaming system is phenomenal, and I love the Quest 2. But Beat Saber is far from my first VR-title, so without the novelty it's "just" a cool rhythm game.
                      • Bad North: Jotunn Edition. Finished it on PC years ago, finished it again on Android. Plays surprisingly well on a small screen - all of its charm is brought over nicely!
                      • Unpacking. The concept of getting to know a person through their stuff is nice.
                      • Vader Immortal: Episode One. Slow, short, ugly and simplistic: you've got to be a *big* Star Wars fan ánd new to VR to appreciate this, I think.
                      • Vader Immortal: Episode Two. A little better, but not by much.
                      • Vader Immortal: Episode Three. I was glad when it was over. The ideas are nice, but the three episodes are very much experimental games from the early days of VR. The franchise ánd the platform deserve a much bigger budget.
                      • Call of Juarez: Gunslinger. If it weren't free, I wouldn't have stuck with this one. It's praised by many, but it's so simplistic, it's like the popcorn you eat at the theater before the actual movie starts.
                      • Tetris Effect. I played this on a flat screen, and I was not drunk or using drugs. So basically, I did it wrong.

For next month, it's back to AAA games for me, though I've also found myself playing Valheim again.
                      May the Yods be silent

After not completing anything the last few months, I completed one in January.
I played through It Takes Two with my nephew.

Even by my standards its been a busy month. A whole bunch of short (mostly narrative) games which aren't worth counting; Along the Edge, Seer's Isle, The Henry Stickman Collection, Across the Grooves, Telling Lies and Behind the Frame.

                                Real games would be;
The Gunk - Decent but unremarkable.
Ghost Recon Wildlands inc. Narco Road and fallen Ghosts - fun but shallow as heck.
Cloudpunk - An much better cyberpunk game than the big one.
Tohu - A couple of rubbish puzzles but a decent p+c overall.
Turnipboy Commits Tax Evasion - Cute.
                                Dirt 4 - It's Dirt again.
                                Braveland Pirate - Strategy lite.
W40K Battlesector - Dissapointing. Shallow, slow and not very challenging.
Mobius Front '83 - The best of the three strategy titles.
Blacksad - Some quality of life issues but decent Noir.
                                Creaks - Stylish puzzle game.

                                Eleven by my count.

                                            A whopping 2 this month.

Uurnog Uurnlimited - a just OK platformer.
Win Big or Die - a free shooter that is not worth the price.

Do Destiny 2 seasons count? If so 1.

Expansion next week, so 3-4 this year.
