Games Finished August 2021

In our 4th year doing this it is amazing how many members are participating throughout. I hope it has helped you as it helped me keeping my backlogs in check while enjoying my games.

As many have seen, I have completed a lot of games last year and still managed to do my hobbies, take care of family, career and the occasional travel (not counting 2020).

Not every month someone will be finishing a lot, as there are months where a person just can't finish anything. Then you got that streak going in another month.

Also, if you plan to replay the game, it is fine but don't repeat it at a later month as first completion is what counts.

Another thing is the criteria of what is considered completed in unclear games such as team based multiplayer games; I would say set a target for that. E.g. I considered Overwatch completed when I reached level 100. Or when I finished story mode (which was a long movie sequence) in Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator. You decide what you consider is completed as long as it is reasonable to a certain extend and correlate-able to a single player experience.

DLC completed at a separate time from the main game and has enough content (+1 hour) can be counted as a separate completion.

Console completions can be accepted as long as the main focus is still PC overall.

So it was a strange month for me as the games completed were strange in completion:

653-Battlefield 1: Got it for free from Amazon Prime. Played the single player campaign and it was meh. First foot into multiplayer and I was hell no. It was way off for me.

654-Battlefield V: Same thing, got it for free from Amazon Prime. Single Player campaign was a lot better than BF1. Nothing COD level though. Multiplayer was a hell lot better. Still, it felt way too restricted versus BF4, especially with vehicles. Both BF1 and BFV suffered greatly from cheaters and hackers. Never before I have experienced this level of broken. Makes me worried about BF2042.

655-Godfall: Fire & Darkness Expansion: Despite various updates and this expansion, it was not that great. Had enough content but the issue with the game itself feeling shallow as an overall game. Gameplay itself was ok.

656-Mortal Shell: Virtuous Cycle DLC: This basically transforms Mortal Shell into a rogue-like and it actually works nicely. Though very hard, atleast for me. It also adds a new shell and I think a new weapon. I enjoyed my attempts in this game.

657-Quake Remaster: Highlight of the month! I replayed everything SP has to offer as I previously only played the main campaign. The added old expansions were nice but felt a step back from the main campaign. Thankfully, the modern expansions were amazing! And you get two of them that are also quite sizable. Though the modern expansions do not add new monsters or weapon, they capitalize on amazing level design. Add to that the inclusion of the original soundtrack and this is one nice ride. Took me about 30 hours to finish everything on Normal. Also, I played 4-player split screen through steamlink with the kids on both deathmatch and coop. It was a lot of fun! (I know monsters and gore but retro graphics makes it tame ).

658-The Ascent: A strange surprise. Impressive ray tracing graphics and a great 4 player coop game. We played it 3 player from start to finish. It is a good overall game but lacks polish, balance and a proper ending. Hopefully they will add more to it.

659-BlazBlue Centralfiction: An updated version of an old game. This in itself is also fairly old. A friend gifted it to me so I went to learn a new character and finish off all tutorials (Beginner to Expert). I won't be touching the single player story because it is basically a novel with voice acting (not my thing). Though played many matches with friends. Not a game I will revisit often but will retain it.

Omno - Short, gentle exploration.


Last Stop - Narrative game with a really bad B-Movie story.


Dungeons II - Shallow strategy game.


Chicken Police - Stylish but let down by the writing.


In Other Waters - Probably the best of August's games.


The Wizards: Dark Times - Decent VR action adventure.


Geoetric Sniper - Short hidden object game.

Bloodspear - a free, short, visceral game with medi-Evil environment.

Halo 1. First time playing the series. So far it's 6/10. About halfway through Halo 2 (it's much better)
