    Games Finished January 2021

In our 4th year doing this it is amazing how many members are participating throughout. I hope it has helped you as it helped me keeping my backlogs in check while enjoying my games.

As many have seen, I have completed a lot of games last year and still managed to do my hobbies, take care of family, career and the occasional travel (not counting 2020).

Not every month someone will be finishing a lot, as there are months where a person just can't finish anything. Then you got that streak going in another month.

Also, if you plan to replay the game, it is fine but don't repeat it at a later month as first completion is what counts.

Another thing is the criteria of what is considered completed in unclear games such as team based multiplayer games; I would say set a target for that. E.g. I considered Overwatch completed when I reached level 100. Or when I finished story mode (which was a long movie sequence) in Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator. You decide what you consider is completed as long as it is reasonable to a certain extend and correlate-able to a single player experience.

DLC completed at a separate time from the main game and has enough content (+1 hour) can be counted as a separate completion.

Console completions can be accepted as long as the main focus is still PC overall.

    Completed Games:
    637-Cyberpunk 2077
638-Star Wars: Battlefront II - Celebration Edition

I removed members who haven't participated the previous year. Their historical counts contribute to historical totals and can be added back whenever they wish to rejoining. This is to keep house keeping under control.

Alright everyone, sorry for the few days delay. Life can be overwhelming sometimes and January was no joke; mostly work related load.

    Anyway, my completions include:
637-Cyberpunk 2077: 150 hours of fun that could have been better. I will revisit on DLCs and major improvements though.

638-Star Wars: Battlefront II - Celebration Edition: Played the SP, not bad. Didn't enjoy MP. Just didn't click with me.

Thank you for doing this again MNB4800. I do rather look forward to it and I do feel this and Backloggery have helped me improve my play and focus more on finishing games than looking for a new distraction.

As expected January and another lockdown has seen plenty of gaming. I've played a lot of small and experimental titles which I won't include (Frog Fractions, Rainy Season, Tukoni, Goblins + Gnomes, Fire Escape, Pilgrims and Perfect Vermin. Maybe even more that I don't recall.)

                  Titles I am claiming (though some are pretty small);
Mini Ninjas - only took eleven years,
                  Carto,
                  Shardlight,
                  Eastshade,
                  Roman Sands,
                  The Almost Gone,
                  Dry Drowning,
                  Morkredd,
Trover Saves the Universe - Very childish and crude and, yes, I laughed out loud many times,
                  Under Leaves,
                  Assemble With Care,
                  Nobodies,
                  Radio General,
                  Tiny Echo,
Procession To Calvary - Too short but a great follow up to Four Last Things,
                  Gears Tactics
                  Drawn Dark Flight.

17 in all. Probably going to have a busy Feb as well as I can't see myself back at work before March.

                      3

Crash Time III: Strange open world but-not-really driving game based in Germany. There is a storyline but it really isn't immersive. Graphics have the weird "brown slime" effect that was popular for no real reason when it came out. When I first got this game over a decade ago I quit because I couldn't "match speed" driving next to vehicles to allow my passenger to jump out and hijack the bad guys' vehicle. Now that I use a gamepad with analog gas pedal, those parts are much easier and was able to finish all of the Cases. There's still some extra content left but I'm done with it. 6/10 but had potential for so much more. Couldn't enable V-Sync to save my life so it ran at 300+ FPS all the time, and 1500+ FPS on the menu screens, which seemed to make my video card make strange noises.

Immortal Redneck: Great rogue-like FPS. On my last run, picked the perfect starting character for the random scrolls I picked up throughout, ended up with 140 out of a max 700 HP for the final boss. Got the boss down to 10% health and ended up dying, BUT I'd forgotten I picked up a resurrection scroll (for the first time in 20 hours' play I might add) and respawned immediately and beat the first pyramid. 50% the achievements. Done!

Need for Speed (2016): Almost bought NFS: Heat on sale but after reading comments that NFS (2016) had better graphics I decided to go back to my unfinished campaign. If NFS: Heat's graphics are worse than this NFS then I want nothing to do with it. It's like the worst form of DLSS is enabled - everything is blurry, everything shimmers. It's truly awful. Initially stopped playing it in 2016 because anyone on a platter HDD using high graphics settings would prevent the world from loading fast enough and your car would fall through the ground in the middle of a race. Still a bug today, so I played it on my SSD.* The always-online aspect of it sucks. Can't pause. Despite being on SSD the loading times are ridiculous. There is a way to "PLAY ALONE" but this requires you to endure another minute+ of loading time. Pushed through to 100% the Outlaw, Speed, Drifting, and Crew objectives.

On top of that you had to reformat the entire chart for the new year. I hope this is still fun to do, and isn't becoming work for you. Please don't stress about it (despite my 'ahem'-ing in last month's thread ).

                              Completed 4 games in January:

Now playing through Ori and the Blind Forest. Might fire up Splinter Cell Blacklist while playing that. Ori can be pretty tough and I tend to put it down after an hour.

It is actually fun and chill. It also keeps me focused from losing sense of time against my backlog and keeping it in check. No stress at all and I don't mind reminders.

                                        New year, new list!

The first three years were all about beating more games, exploring and experiencing new games. Last year was about quality over quantity. I think this year, I'll be focusing on specific games. I want to get back into Assetto Corsa Competizione with a racing wheel; I want to start Breath of the Wild on the Switch; and if I'm bored I'll start on a few games I apparently own but don't really care for.

Anyway, finished two games in January:
                                        1. Dishonored 2: Death of the Outsider. Cool game to finish off my time with Dishonored. I like that mass murdering your enemies in brutal ways actually fits with the character, allowing the player to toy with all the evil ways to handle combat. Didn't make sense to go rambo in previous games, which is a bit of a shame considering the amount of options you had.
                                        2. Hitman 2 (2018). Speaking of the amount of options of killing a guy... Hitman 2 didn't get me hooked exactly like Hitman (2016) did, but it's a solid sequel with some memorable levels. I look forward to playing Hitman 3 some time next year, when it's on Steam.
                                        May the Yods be silent

Funny, I actually looked at the chart and in 2020(covid year) I played less games than I ever have Backwards for sure.

If I understand the chart correctly, the best way for me to stay in the green is to not complete so many games this year that I cannot match up to the same scale next year. I'll have to slow my pace down lol.

That is why I loved Death of the Outsider. It broke the norm of Stealth no kill approach and let you loose! Was a great change.

No. I use a capture software but it is strange that there is a cursor since I am using the mouse to capture the boundaries and therefore there shouldn't be a cursor captured in the first place. Will fix.
