yeah it's not nearly that bad for me thankfully. I think I'd be pretty disappointed too if I were getting what Mangler mentioned.

The stuttering and **** is less if using a fast NVME as access and caching requires speed. Otherwise it is graphically intense.

Anyways, game sucks so who cares.

Well, there’s no glowing arrows pointing where to go or narrators praising them for leveling up

I’ve run into 2 bosses so far that are genuinely tough for me. My whole dodge and parry timing is miles off and I’m paying for it.

I know it’ll click eventually, but I need to explore other areas and try to level a bit more first.

I’ll say one thing though, the number of optional bosses in this game is high, really high. 6 so far, not even that far from the starting place.

It’s gotten really frustrating for me. I’m actually thinking about starting with another class to see if it’s easier. Now that I know where a bunch of good stuff is I can catch up pretty fast.

Anyone find an Xbox controller fix for PC besides uninstalling vJoy? I use vJoy with my HOTAS Setup. It took an hour to map the keys correctly.

Also went with Confessor for my first try. Tempted to restart with something that has range. Maybe full on weeb route with the Samurai, or the Astrologer maybe.

@Cyko - confirmed the vagabond is better, for me anyway. Your cave guy, and another that gave me fits (6 tries) both went down pretty easy. Liking it Only thing I miss is the bleed on the katana, but I’ll find something else with it.

I believe so. No way what I’m seeing is more than that.

Iirc there was a problem with this engine, or a potential problem, didn’t happen to everyone, when modded to run more than 60fps, so they likely capped it.

I started with melee vagabond, got really tough (I am new to the dodge, parry, strike dance) and switched to an astrologer for some range -- good if you keep the mana up and don't let the bad dudes too close, but it also has its own challenges as you are really squishy.

Good to know Switch -I want to add magic in…vagabond seems like a solid base.

I’m upping stamina for weight and swapping armor too. I’m finding good stuff with higher poise and damage reduction. If you aren’t familiar, the higher the poise the better. Harder for enemies to stagger you.

Ah thanks for the tip -- I have only managed a couple hours of play between calls and following WW3 unfold. Hopefully wifey passes out early tonight and I can crank up my poise.

I’m so far off track lol, I found an area where I can get 12-15k runes every 7-8 minutes. High risk high reward thing, but it’s way off the beaten path. I decided to ride once I got back to the mainland instead of fast travel, and I swear every 2 minutes another bright and shiny path catches my eye

I don’t mind the leveling really - that first ‘real’ boss is really something else, so me leveled is a good thing.

Yes, i got about an hour logged tonight. Still in the staring area. I really want to at least check out everything in the area at the bottom right corner of the map before moving on. Lots of distractions though.

Took out that mounted horse boss in the starting area near the church then did a little exploring in a nearby swamp ruins that turned out to be a real quagmire involving a treasure chest.

Kind of a spoiler -

Went down into a small dungeon in the ruins with rats and found a chest. But opening it was a trap which teleported me to a completely different area with tough enemies, and i can't fast travel back. Going to have to fight my way through it. All part of the experience i guess!

The miners don't bother you unless you take the gems they are mining. You can easily sneak through the back behind where you spawn. There's a ladder that goes down to a new grace, unlock it and then step outside the dungeon to fast travel. Or explore. But it's a pretty high level area I think.

Thanks man, i did manage to find my way. It wasn't as bad as i originally thought.

Explored that area for a bit and now I'm at the roundtable hold. Seems like a main story area so I'm wondering if i was supposed to get trapped as a test? Or there are multiple ways to get here.

Love this ignorance feeling of starting a new souls game. So many questions.

The current player count is insane, sony left a lot of money on the table by not porting bloodborne.



Also, I do not like the way they introduced the level up lady, I spent hours at level 1 since I never fulfilled the requirement of resting three times at the bonfire.

I just found these Burger King dudes. “Annoying” doesn’t even come close

It seems like exploration is key. It doesn’t take long to stumble on areas that are super tough, but loaded with much needed upgrade materials, weapons, tools…

I thought I would be able to work my way through this like a typical souls game, but I’ve been slapped down enough to know that’s not going to happen. So I’m just taking it easy, and I’ll beat the game probably July or so at this rate

Patch version 1.02.1 has been released for Steam today
Here are the changes made available with this patch:

Start-up issues related to Easy Anti Cheat (EAC) have been improved.
Mouse operation improved.
Reduced number of files needed to load when entering a new area.

This is probably going to help those with massive stutters.

It updated when I launched a while ago. I still had some minor hitching, but it did seem a bit smoother.

I just put away the first main story boss that gave me so much trouble before, first attempt. Vagabond is the starting build for any future games for me

Also, get a weapon that inflicts bleed. Confirmed it helps a lot, really OP.

I feel like I actually have a solid, viable build now, can also tank hits from most enemies
