the issue is, you had to really go out of your way to invade lower lvl players in previous games. You had to be good enough to get the items you wanted.
That invisible spell is pretty ****ed. It's also a one hit.
Or the guys constantly spewing madness, but also having enough resistance they dont trigger it on themselves. Or the guy double wielding rot rapid fire crossbows. Or dual wielding some stupid reach spear that cause multiple ailments at once. Etc.
**** you literally can't protect your self against. All in the first area of the game.
Weirdly i didnt even have this problem solo. I did plenty of random co-op, and got invaded heaps, but it was only random bullshit a few times. Out in the open world, its constant trolling and nothing else. We literally didnt have a single fight that was doable.
Never put off tomorrow what you can put off today!

Yup, that highlights my point about needing a switch to turn invasions off.
Miyazaki may be brilliant when it comes to game design, but he’s stupid AF to think that everyone enjoys having their game trolled by outsiders.
Invasions between players that want to pvp? Great, power to you.
Some trolling little mouth breather that just wants to wreck games? Piss off.
Myself - went to a guide and lo and behold, cleared another 15 or so bosses I never knew existed. I think I still have a few to go too.
I do think I got all the “Hero” type graves though, and these are all weaker optional bosses, but I’m going to make another save soon, scour for anything I missed and then take it into NG+
Edit: I lied. They’re not all weaker. There’s another
Astel. Stars of Darkness
If anything, this “big arena” boss is one of the worst. He’s got tricks that the one in Ranni’s quest didn’t. I got him first time, but I’m also arguably overleveled for anything in NG.
I also found a weapon you casters might be interested in. Full grown Fallingstar Beast jaw. It’s got a pretty potent ash of war.
Haligtree is tough, but you’ll level a few times in there and get some great tools too.
I’m doing a little ‘experiment’. the previous conversation about invaders got me thinking, wondering what I can do early on a new build.
I’m level 10 now, started with the prophet class, and have already opened the Dectus lift and gained access to Volcano Manor - that’s about an hour in and I almost have enough somber stones for a +9 weapon.
I haven’t even gone into the Margit boss fight yet. About another hours worth of preparation and I’ll pay him a visit.
"I'll admit it. I did try and **** her, she was married."
"I moved on her like a bitch. I couldn't get there and she was married."
"I don't even wait. And when you're a star they let you do it. You can do anything."
"Grab them by the pussy."

Update on my twink build. About 3.5 hours of prep time. Margit went down with 2 hits. It should have been a 1 shot, but I realized after it that I never used my stock of somber stones to upgrade the Erdtree talisman.
I was using the Ancient Dragon’s Lightening Strike. So off to upgrade the talisman …
All that said, there are players so much faster than me at preparing a new, OP build. 3.5 hours and now have:
15 vigor
15 mind
11 End
12 STR
13 Dex
8 INT
40 FTH
10 Arc
Ancient Dragon’s Lightening Strike
Lightening Spear
Various heals and buffs
Yes, a really competent player could put together much better than one I did, and this new build is capable of one shotting a crap ton of the games enemies.
That’s essentially what players are doing to really grief the starting area NG players. You wouldn’t stand a chance. Fromsoft REALLY needs that “OFF” switch for invasions, especially in this game.

And there are still morons who believe they should put an easy mode in these games.

Yep. The thing is, none of this was hard. There was exactly one suicide run, lots of running and picking things up.
Factor in that ‘wrongwarp’ between The Four Belfries, Crumbling Faraam and the Perfumers Grotto…you can literally go straight to the end game within 40 minutes and get end game gear and upgrade materials with very, very little combat or hardship.

No. I haven't played much yet so zero progress towards Haligtree. I did bounce around through a couple dungeons I missed earlier though. Just fought the Putrid Crystalians (the 3 of them that cause Rot), and **** me I hate those guys.

It’s crazy dude. Just broken.
Broken in terms of PvP twinking, yes. But I think its perfectly fine for PvE.
The game naturally rewards exploration. If a player is clever and brave enough to find the path to venture into late game areas why shouldn't they be rewarded with awesome items and equipment? Tbh I wish more games were like this.
And yeah, you said it was easy to do but honestly, #1 you are an experienced Souls-like player, and #2 you already have gone through the game a couple times and know your way around. A first time player wont be able to get all that stuff early on in the game so easily.

Yeah they’re in the top 10 most annoying enemies list for sure. And…maybe it’s just me but..come on Fromsoft. We know you love to kill people with toxins and stuff, but scarlet rot is EVERYwhere it seems like.

Good points. I was referring to pvp, but I should have made the distinction. Good call
Okay. Haligtree is officially going to remain unexplored.

?? What happened? If it’s
Naill for the other half of the medallion
there’s an easy fix for that.
Oh no it's not that. I'm at the 2nd Haligtree grace and it was an ordeal to get here. Everything on the other side is frustrating to deal with, not fun. Zombies that default to a running grab to take 90% of your health? Misbegottens that just AOE with their sword and poise through everything?

Ah gotcha - you’re where I was at when I went full raging hairball at the level It’s just stupid and pointless to cram so many enemies into an area like that, and those enemies are just annoying as anything.
If it helps, even though it seems like a long slog, that’s a reasonably short run to the next shortcut back to the grace, with a boss of course - it’s an easy one though.
After that boss things go to a more souls-like experience again. But that run through that little bit just SuuuuuuckS.
Edit: Once you get to the misbegotten in the open area with his back to you, iirc the next grace is just through the door to the left of that area.
Okay so a friend just suggested that I try the treetops again but with the
Collapsing Stars spell and this is a blast. I love watching those horny tooting mother****ers get dragged off the branches by this thing.
Anyways, I just unlocked a shortcut and got to an area that looks 100% like an upcoming boss fight. No idea who this is but gonna give it a try after dinner tonight.

I’ve decided that horseback combat leaves a lot to be desired. I went after O’Neil and trying to hit him with lightening was ridiculous. Right in front of him, but with Torrent at a slight angle, locked on, and lightening bolts are whiffing to his left and right. Same thing with some knights and smaller enemies. Locked on and facing the enemy 20-25 feet away should be a hit every time unless they dodge it.
Meh, I’m still having fun with this quick build. Got a one shot off on Agheel the dragon, that was cool. Decaying Ekzykes though, he’s a whole other can of worms. Can’t get him to stay on the ground long enough to cast half the time.
I went to NG+ with my main build and I’m putting the last NG save back in. There’s no point to NG+ with this. 30 lousy minutes and Tree Sentinel, Agheel, Margit and Godrick are down, and went down fast.
It’s literally pointless to do anything other than experiment with new builds in other playthrough.

I’m hoping the upcoming DLC takes a bit of a Nioh 2 approach to making areas of the game replayable.
Is there a way to farm up Larval Tears more generally? Or is that a pretty limited supply? I have 5 in the bank and tempted to respec into an Unga Bunga ish build but hate knowing that every time I burn one of those tears I’m using a pretty finite resource.

I wound up with ~14 or 15 just from general gameplay. It might be worth googling it Shrike, because I can guarantee you ran past a few in the early game, just like I did lol.
Pretty sure Larval tears are of finite quantity, but there are a lot of them in the game. Definitely at least between 10-20. I don't know, that seems like a lot of respec chances for a single playthrough. I thought you could farm them from the big balls in Nokron but I think they are a one time drop.
I would say if you want to fool around with respeccing different builds and are concerned with using larval tears just do save backups.

The backups would work There are 18 of them in the game, but they do drop from the tears you find underground, but they’re rare. Silver fouls foot and silver scarab talisman recommended.
That's helpful. I thought maybe the 6 or 7 I'd picked up were it. I guess I could've Googled it but it seemed easier to just ask y'all. You're good about being spoiler light on things.
Unga Bunga build it is. Gotta try out this Fingerprint Shield at some point.

Obviously don't watch it if you haven't fought her yet and want anything spoiled.

That's insane. Imagine the number of runs needed to learn the patterns to that degree. No ashes available, or that just because he himself is a summons? I'm thinking I won't be able to do that fight. ::

That fight is heartbreaking for the average player. Between 2 separate playthroughs I think I fought her ~30 times. She’s proof my reflexes have dulled a LOT over the years.
There’s a YouTuber called AfroSenju who I think is just hilarious, but he’s also fairly skilled. I think she broke him I’m not sure if he’s beaten her or not yet.
Edit: I want Meteor_Of_War to fight her.
