That was irritating me, along with the traversal issues in getting back to the fight, all softs of trudging, etc. I just ended up not finding it fun. The Nioh formula I enjoy more.
But yeah, Nioh really took the old Souls formula and improved it in almost every way. They added quality of life improvements that just makes the genre more fun and enjoyable. Its actually a concern I do have about playing Elden Ring. I'm worried it might feel like a step back after playing the Nioh games.

Needing to learn very specific sequences of attacking etc. I mean, maybe Nioh is similar, but I've never felt the level of irritation and just wanting to walk away because it seemed insurmountable with the way I play the game. I walked away from DS because I just wasn't having fun. Possible that I won't get the same feel from Elden, but I'm reserving judgement.A hobbiest foundry and forge in progress, plans, suppliers, showcasing ideas

Nioh is definitely a lot more forgiving in that way. Especially by the time I got to Nioh 2 I could usually walk into a new boss and take it down in one or two tries just winging it, aside from a few early boss fights before I leveled up a bit and unlocked certain skills.

Once you simply learn the boss patterns down pat you can usually take them out fairly easily using any build type. But you have to learn them first. Hence, why I eventually was able to do a soul level 1 boss rush playthrough. But that take time and patience.

To koralis ‘ point, if it isn’t fun, then it just isn’t fun. I don’t let it bother me any more, but I spend money to have fun and if the itch isn’t’ being scratched, then it’s time to move on.
I still remember how much fun O&S, and the Storm King were the first time

Big offender for me with this was of course Manus. I banged my head against the wall for multiple hours first time I faced him. Turned out I was just being stubborn not wanting to use a shield to block certain attacks. Once I gave in and starting using the shield instead of trying to roll he went down right away.
Sometimes its just required to alter your approach. I don't really see a big deal with that. But also, just because I couldn't beat him that way doesn't mean its the same for everyone - so I wouldn't fault the game there.

Edit: I’m sure Elden Ring will be similar in that regard. Different players, different approaches, some will struggle and others won’t. All part of the game.

So is this something different or just another dime-a-dozen Souls clone?"Ok to lose to opponent, must not lose to fear!"

I would imagine they will allow for that. After beating the final boss or whatever, dump you back into the world to keep exploring. Then you can rest somewhere and have the option to move into NG+.
But yet to be seen. Because of the open world nature of it there might need to be some alterations to that. We'll see.

Usually I try to stick to the main quest, because its easy to get distracted with side stuff then it really disrupts the feeling of continuity of the story while role playing a character.
For example,
"Please hurry! You need to head right to this location and do this thing or the world will end!"
"OK, no problem. Right after I go and do these 10 side quests and aimlessly explore around for 5 hours."
Kind of kills the immediacy of the story.

I'm actually a bit envious of you guys. I wish I had the patience for Dark Souls type games. I did have a good time with the first Dark Souls many years ago, but was never able to get into any of the others. I just don't feel like dedicating 10+ minutes (or more for bosses) to figuring out how to kill every different enemy I encounter."Ok to lose to opponent, must not lose to fear!"

But I will say FWIW, From Software has claimed Elden Ring is supposedly more accessible a game due to it being open world. Makes sense too. Not that any of their other games were absolutely like this, but you are likely not going to be pigeon holed into one direction from the start even more now. You will be able to head off in virtually every direction on the map, so the "path of least resistance" has been widened which in theory should make for an easier time.
This will allow players much more freedom of direction should they hit a wall with a tough area or boss. Also, many of the normal enemy encounters can be ran past even easier now.
I usually say this with all Souls-likes because I'm just a fan of the genre. But more so with this game, if it looks even remotely interesting to give it a shot. I don't think I'd call Elden Ring another "Souls clone." They have done a lot of different things with the formula this time.

No official date for the c2, but some stores accidentally put out their pages for it which seemed to suggest late march/mid april.
I don't think there is a date for the qd-oled screens yet, but since the first qd-oled monitor is coming out in late march/early april, I suspect the big screen have a similar release date.
