In normal play I don't notice anything, but I have a raided NVMe system which might be alleviating the games structural problems. As for stutters, it was definitely way worse early in my playthrough. Seemed to get better over time, likely because of shader assets being loaded to cache as Mangler said. In the last couple weeks of playing it might have happened once or twice at most, and always when first entering a brand new area.

Basically, the power of Flame of Frenzy is going to depend on how strong your sacred seal is, and possibly how high your FTH stat is as well.

There might be ways to lessen it but there's no 100% fix which was what I was saying. Only thing you can do is play the game. The more you play the less the problem should happen, in theory.

, godrick and margit are not so tough when you face them at level 2X with a colossal sword with some decent upgrades.
Having a decent weapon and some vigor really makes a difference.
Now I just wish that there was a way to find another one of these swords, it really is a shame that From did not put an npc in the game that sells another copy of the regular weapons, it kind of sucks that you need to ng+ just in order to get another one.Last edited by Mangler; Apr 5, 2022, 12:33 PM.

I was using erdtree as well, I think it's the best scaling all rounder if I recall right, but if you go heavy into a build you should probably use whichever seal boosts the incantations you want to use.
Always wanted to try Frenzy, but don't feel like being the frenzied flame to get the frenzy seal.
lol Placidusax pissed me off. We mutually offed each other. He has a freaking death ray attack I had no idea how to handle.
Also, if doing Faith I've heard good things about Pest Threads and large enemies. Seems they like to hit for multiple times on larger hit boxes.“On a lonely planet spinning its way toward damnation amid

Decided that I was too comfortable with my venerable old Banished Knight Halberd. As I've recently shifted towards Int/Sorcery and away from Faith/attacking I was reviewing the weapons I could actually equip.
Decided that Greatswords and such are just too damned slow, don't have the reach, etc. Too many spears need more Faith or Dex than I have. Then I realized I had never given the Commander's Standard a fair shake after besting O'Neal.
Holy cow. The weapon itself... meh. Just a halberd and no cold damage or anything else special about it... pure physical, strength/dex. However, it's intrinsic "Ash" is pretty amazing.
20% bonus damage, 20% less damage taken for 30 seconds for you AND nearby allies? Just as a ME thing this is pretty great. Works on both melee and spells. Really makes the Greatbow and Rock Sling punchy. But let Tiche get an upgrade?? Haven't tried out the latter yet, but I've read that it's damned impressive.
In any event, if you're looking for a damage buff, consider it.A hobbiest foundry and forge in progress, plans, suppliers, showcasing ideas

Flipping the switch when I get home today.
To me any kind of strong ranged attacks is easy mode in this game. Aside from strong ranged sword skills ranged sorcery or FTH nuke spells like Flame of Frenzy makes this game so much easier that even casual gamers could play it and have any easy time (though they still wont).

I watched a couple of YouTube videos, guys are soloing Melania without even touching their flasks.
It’s this game’s GSoA, but even better.
I’ve just decided I want to just crush. Not fight, just crush kill destroy

I loved the glass cannon playthrough. I just haven’t given bleed a fair chance yet, and coupling it with this shield….I’ll post the results.

Holy **** where have you been all my life!?
The shield - Can’t touch this
The spear…has the same special attack he uses in the boss fight. Timing is critical of course, but to keep it short, get anywhere near me having that skill and the enemy staggers and dies, pretty quickly.
And that’s without special blood attack related talismans.
Yeah…got some tweaking to do before I finish the rest of the bosses off

So, I'm done playing the game for now but I have been reading Reddit posts and watching YouTube vids to get other people's impressions and to see any things I've missed.
I just learned that at least some bosses take two parries before you can get a riposte on them. This blows my mind because I remember early on against the Margit fight is when I kind of gave up parrying in this game because I couldn't figure why the hell ripostes weren't working properly. I would parry, but could not always riposte and it was driving me nuts. So I just gave it up after that and didn't try parrying anymore for the rest of my playthrough. Like WTF game.

@Shrike - the only thing I hate more in this game than all the damn platforming is Melania.
I just put her away using Mohgwyns’s Sacred spear and bloodlflies. She bleeds easy turns out.
That shield is broken in that fight. It provides 100% defense, until it doesn’t. Stamina at 100% and a full block and her weapon ignores it enough to make it not viable, in that fight anyway.
On Melania - I have nothing good to say about the fight. It’s hard yes, but she heals when she hits, and she’s one of the fastest hitting bosses in the entire game. Good riddance.
She now tops my list of most hated bosses of all time.

Even at this level, while I'd say it's "easier" it's certainly no cakewalk. Coming from a Quality build, my fragile little snow witch takes way more damage. Just a bit ago I remembered that I didn't clear out War-dead Catacombs' boss and revisited it. Only to die maybe 5 times to that ****er's room filling AOE. He was basically 2 shotting me.
But also I was playing with my new Comet Azur KAMEHAMEHA WAVE ability so some of those deaths were self inflicted pretty much.
Then I remembered to invite Tiche to the party and well it got easier after that.
Originally posted by Meteor_of_War View PostEh, honestly parrying is not as useful as it used to be in previous Souls games. Sure, its still great when you pull it off but the parry window seems so much shorter now that its usually not worth the risk. Especially with so many other options to fight with. Of course, its much easier using smaller shields like a buckler, but then you sacrifice guard boost. Like I said I only tried parrying very early on and then stopped completely. I don't think it had much of an affect on my playthrough at all. I think it could still be useful for level 1 playthroughs and for those people who want to play without using spirit summons so the bosses are totally focused on the player. Then is when parrying will really become necessary.
