Morgott’s cursed sword +7- classed as a great sword, but a bit faster with a cool, time delayed fire trail and explosion for it’s skill. Probably great for crowd control.

Blasphemous Blade +7 > Holy Hell Solid, but not crazy dps, but that skill. That skill is a ranged, powerful fire shot along the ground that just smokes anything it hits. The best part, it seems damaging an enemy heals you the player, by large chunks sometimes. Love it. This is my go to great sword now.

I’m not posting numbers because I had to use a combination of great rune and talismans to meet the specs for the weapons so I could test the skills.

They also are not upgraded equally just because I have to farm or buy more stones.

    fwiw.
Definitely seems like a good way to spend time with the game after you've beaten it. Go right to get all the coolest weapons, level them up and try them out.

I am exploring the northern part of Altus Plateau right now (just got to Mt. Gelmir) and have been finding some cool weapons myself. When I have some time tomorrow I think I'm just going to go through my inventory and look up everything I picked up to get a sense of what they can do.

Last cool weapon I got was a poleblade dropped by bloody finger Eleonora. These twinblades seem interesting, but unfortunately again this one I don't think can use Ashes of War. I don't get it why so many weapons in this game cannot use ashes. Not sure I understand the logic. I assume its for balancing reasons, but its just a bummer. I feel like there are things about the PvE portion of these games that get restricted simply for PvP reasons. Well what about people who just play PvE? I sometimes kind of wish they would separate game mechanics.

Holy smokes. Malenia is down. Decided to pop over there and see about it. That one got the blood going when I got her down to 30% in the second phase. Didn't want to **** it up after getting so close.

Mimic tear carried my slow ass through that one. I never used it before the nerf, that thing must have been a god incarnate beforehand. Had to rejigger a lot of things. Started with 2 whips, OK, not bad. Summoned it with a seal in the other hand so it'd use spells. Alright, much better. Consistently got her to second phase IF she didn't use the 1000 hit instant death technique. Still no idea what to do with that, even if you dodge forward past her you still get slammed. Then after getting instantgibbed on the second phase start twice in a row, I can't dodge that worth ****, I made sure I could equip a great shield. SO, she'd flip into phase two, I'd switch to the great shield, tank the her nuke so I could actually fight her in the second half. I have way too many bleed and fire incants on my hotbar. Mimic was a incant slinging champ.

I still think they should tone down her self heal, but she's an "optional" boss. So, they probably intended for her to be over the top. Still feels a little unfair, it wants you to play aggressively because of it, but her super combo punishes whatever the hell you do.

On weapon chat, whenever I get a new weapon I head to the starting area. Think it's the Gate waypoint? Right before the canyon with the giant and archers at his flank. Allows me to play around with a few enemy types while I get a feel for move sets and weapon arts. Especially since you have a greatshield using enemy right there.

Also, these whips have really grown on me. Wish I could have two Petal Whips, but that's probably a NG+ affair.

I wish they would let us use the combinations we want to as well. I’ve been pretty fortunate in that I’m finding certain weapons that I can’t use ash on fit my play style, but along those lines, It’s also led me to neglect ashes of war all together, so that’s my next play test.

As I’m running more of a bleed build now though, I do need to go get that twinblade you just got. It’s a pretty OP bleed weapon from what I understand.

All in all at this point though, I’m just slightly disappointed that I can’t find any one weapon that just ticks all the check marks for me. This blasphemous blade is amazing, and will be getting used a lot, but I don’t, never have liked Fromsoft’s great sword moveset.

So I’ll keep looking, and just swap between multiple weapons as needed.

Congrats man, she’s a tough one. And yes, pre-nerf the mimic was pretty insane. Thing is, I really wish they would have just left things alone given some of the over the top monstrosities in this game.

I’ve actually implemented a new rule on bosses. 4 failures means see ya later. No frustration, just roll eyes and leave lol. I’ll go back 20 levels later because screw these guys

Just tried restarting, verifying game files, and also updated to latest GeForce driver. Trying another restart now. What the hell it was just working fine this morning.

[EDIT] Tried disabling MSI Afterburner / Rivatuner and that fixed it. WTF? I have been playing the game with those the whole time with no problem. They do not auto-update or anything either. Weird.
Just a quick update to this issue I was having last night.

Forgot to try one other thing - update MSI Afterburner and Rivatuner. That fixed it. Game launches normally again with Afterburner/Rivatuner running.

I still think its a bit strange that everything was fine then all of a sudden it became a problem. I could understand it if something was patched and immediately broke afterwards. Ah whatever. Above my pay grade apparently. Working again so I am happy.

Totally agree on that. Finally got Margit on my fourth try, 10 levels later. Phewww. Level 35 or so and sucking big time at it
No question is dumb if you do not know the answer.

Margit on the 4th try at level 35 is pretty good

I get frustrated sometimes because some of the bosses and mini-bosses seem to almost have Nioh like boss mechanics, which is fine, but the player doesn’t have those Nioh combat mechanics to deal with them.

Level 35 is still pretty low, even for the early game (unless you're a pro at these games).

I honestly didn't start to feel confident in boss fights until around level 50 or so. Now I'm level 90 and absolutely demolishing almost any new boss I come across.

Also remember its not just your level. You need to be sure to upgrade weapons and your spirit ashes.

**** Malenia and all other ****ing bosses that basically has 1-shot kills no matter how much vigor you got.

Yeah, I acknowledge that you can git gud and beat them at sl1, but they are still garbage bossfights that ruins my perception of the entire game.

She had no chance against me and my mimic using that blood katana though, the trick to make this fight enjoyable is beating her so fast that the divebomb is the only bullshit move that she can pull off.

I am getting tired of how elden ring took the worst things about dark souls 2 and bloodborne and cranked it up to 11 though, I LOVE exploring the world, but this game has WAY too many bossfights that incorporates elements that people could not stand in DS2 and BB.

Elden Ring while exploring dungeons/the world 10/10, elden ring during those fights 5/10.

I skipped that one as I was maxed on flasks till I learned that you actually need to do it for a quest.

                            That was a depressing realization.

It's the aftermath from yesterday, I basically had her beat the legit way two times, but I got hit by that bug where the game alt+tabs itself, that seriously got me triggered for real, I rage quit after it happened the second time.

God bless Mr Mimic, it can help you kill Malenia in under a minute even after the nerfs.

Mimic is still plenty viable, as is Black knife Tiche. I’m running Ranni’s quest to get him now. There’s another one, Cleanrot Knight Finlay or something like that. It’s a solid one too.

If even Mangler can lose it with this game I'm sure I will eventually too.

Wouldn't be the first time for me to rage at From Soft, and its usually those optional bosses are the ones that do it. Of course Manus, but I also recall Nameless King from DS3 had me pretty irate for a while. I almost gave in and summoned for that fight, but eventually was able to just barely get him and complete all bosses in that game solo.

I have been having a relatively easy time so far with boss fights in Elden Ring. I think toughest boss for me was still under 8 attempts or so and early on in the game (Godrick I think). I have been making a point to be over-leveled for any area I go to. If I sense too much difficulty I simply go somewhere else and level up more. I'm just not about to look for that soul crushing difficulty anymore.

Ahh, yeah that happens to me sometimes. Its always in the back of my mind during a tough fight, thinking the game will minimize.

Then there's just the times it minimizes because I'll get an Outlook meeting reminder, or MS teams message. Those ones are my fault because I shouldn't be playing during work hours.

I think Fromsoft took over leveling into consideration regarding balancing here. My first build made it easy to get through some levels only to run into a boss, or bosses that seemed more fit for end game. The thing is, you don’t know until you go in, so it’s hard to prepare.

My current build is 90% melee, so it’s even more fun But I’m making my way through

So I just finished Commander Niall and now I'm wondering... that fight seemed way harder than it should've been. He just kept spamming that AOE frost bullshit. Should I not have been killing his soldiers? Was that a trap where your instinct is to take out the little guys but in the end that buffs him? I'm only just now realizing this in retrospect.

It still suffered from the "I can't see what is going on" syndrome though, elden ring needs a higher FOV.

My first build made it easy to get through some levels only to run into a boss, or bosses that seemed more fit for end game. The thing is, you don’t know until you go in, so it’s hard to prepare.

My current build is 90% melee, so it’s even more fun But I’m making my way through
Well so far I have not seen that - getting through an area relatively easily but the boss turned out to be way tougher. Usually when an area is tough the boss felt equally as tough, and vice versa.

This is mostly regarding mini bosses however, which are the majority of bosses I found to this point. Just faced Godskin Apostle near a windmill village in northern Altus Plateau. Now this region I would say is just a step above Limgrave and Liurnia in difficulty, but this particular section felt easier. Enemies went down in one hit, and the boss wasn't too bad either.

But I will certainly let you know when I start running into areas I feel ill-equipped for level wise. I also just started the Ranni quest, and it appears it will lead me to the Radahn fight so we'll see how that goes.

He just kept spamming that AOE frost bullshit. Should I not have been killing his soldiers? Was that a trap where your instinct is to take out the little guys but in the end that buffs him? I'm only just now realizing this in retrospect.

I finished that one (he's in the swamp right?) recently. so, first things to know....

                                                    1) If you kill off his guys he summons more. If you leave 1 or 2 alive, he doesn't as far as I can tell. Optimum is to kill some and then focus on him. I let the wolves harass the rest.

                                                    2) There's a gold cooperator summons near one of the entrances. She really distracts the commander and lets you go after him without fearing for your life so much. I died several times before I noticed it. I understand it was new in the last patch.

The area boss after lighting the fires Ancestor Spirit was really sweet. Just an elegant design, really enjoyed that. Very serene and calming fight, if that is even possible in these games.

So yeah, Blaidd is saying to meet him at the castle which I assume is in Caelid to fight Radahn. So I will be finally doing that very soon. I understand the reputation of that fight from what I've read here and some videos I saw. I am not sure what to expect when I face it though, I am level 91. I know its a gimmick fight and those can get real messy sometimes so will just have to wait and see. Could end up being the first one I really struggle with. Also I will NOT be using rotten breath. But, will be cheesing him with sorcery from afar as much as possible.

On another note, I get the feeling I skipped a lot of areas that I should have done before going to Leyndell. Siofra Well seemed intimating when I first got there but turned out to be piss easy. I took a look at other people's achievement progress and there are players that have achievements for several bosses that I have not even found, yet they have not beaten Godfrey or Morgott. This game does a good job of being non-linear.

You'll probably die a time or two as you sort out the gimmicky encounter mechanics but it sounds like post-1.03 he's been nerfed pretty hard. It sounds like it's a much easier fight than it used to be (and it was a bitch n' a half before). He's also weak to a certain thing, and there's some lore in the game that explains it. So feel free to try out a few inflictions if you're looking for a bit of extra help.

So feel free to try out a few inflictions if you're looking for a bit of extra help.

Dang, I actually think that kind of sucks. But actually, I am just looking it up now and there's some articles mentioning some people were claiming Radahn's hit boxes were screwy and he would connect with sword hits even if you were clear of contact. In that case I don't see that as a problem to change. But people are also saying he now does less damage to the player.

I still haven't started it. I jumped on for a bit last night to head that way but got distracted exploring Caelid. Then it was co-op night with my bros and we played Killing Floor 2 for a couple hours. Probably today.

Myself, I just got back into the worst level of the entire game. Haligtree just absolutely sucks. The worst of it is the art direction is just gorgeous. But enemy placement, the sheer number of enemies, the number of “regular” enemies that can one shot a player with over 1500hp…not to mention one wrong move in much of the beginning areas means a fall to the death…..

I ran through much of it my first play through, and I’m going to do the same this one. The entire area is designed to simply make the player punch their monitor out.

Anyway, between exploration and wonky bosses the rest of the game is a solid 8/10 if I’m being unbiased.

This area….3/10, and that 3 is only for the art direction and a couple of the items. This level of frustration is just needless in any game, much less a game like this.
