Except for that Redmane boss in this game. That had me so worked up it was actually kind of therapeutic for me to see that I beat that thing faster than he did. Sad I knowbut I have to take what I can get sometimes lol.
Right now I’m working through another run putting together a faith/arc/dex build and if anything, it’s shaping up to be more OP than the mage. Just a little squishy, but that’s getting fixed too.
Love this game, quirks and all

I do get a kick out of some of the Let’s play videos too. I watched one guy get a certain enemy down to where the HP bar actually looked empty, and he couldn’t respond due to stamina or something and it got him. Couldn’t help but laugh. Been there a couple of times myself

LobosJr at times can frustrate me with the way he plays, stubborn at times to let go of old habits. But its this kind of dedication and raw skill that I really appreciate. I used to do SL1 playthroughs but I don't think I can do it anymore, just don't have the time.

Of course in the late game at high levels this can be remedied, but for most of the start of a game its too tricky for me. Also I'm not good playing the math game knowing how many spells I should cast for which enemies to be most economical with my FP. Makes me have to think too much.
I saw this in my feed yesterday and just had to watch even though it spoiled me to a late game (optional) boss:

Lobos though - I have to admit that bothers me seeing that video. He makes that look easy, and she is anything but lol. Unless you’re LobosJr

that's the problem with vids like that, people tend to watch them and think "well, that's totally easy" while it isn't and then get completely destroyed and frustrated. I always avoid vids with games like Elden Ring.
After completing the game? That's another story.
But yes, he really makes it look like it's a cakewalk

I don't know who the hell would watch that video and think its easy. Well, maybe just people who never played nor have any knowledge whatsoever of Souls games?
Pretty obvious though what he's doing there took hours upon hours of practice, and a boatload of skill and experience. Definitely not something everyone can accomplish. Simply the necessary endurance alone to make it through that fight without taking a hit would break most players.

I still do parrying, but I will never rely on it anymore in a life or death situation. Thankfully they added the guard counter riposte which is really cool and definitely more reliable than parrying.

Or….I’m just gettin older
Anyway, Fatboi that we’ve been talking about earlier is down. Level 60 and it wasn’t too bad knowing what to expect. Now I can go get them fancy ashes

I do wish they would finally tune the input queuing though. I understand why its necessary in these games, and discourages button mashing, but it just sucks when you get hit or interrupted in some way and your queued roll still comes out after. I feel like the timing of the queue could be tightened up at least a little. I feel like its one of those issues they really have never improved.
One of those reasons I think Nioh is the better game.

Ended up going back to the Niall fight after forgetting about the sewers and clearing them out. I ended up just traded stomps with him. He'd drop kick, I'd Hoarfrost, and we'd just go back and forth. Think it's the first beating of a boss where I literally felt nothing. Such a bull**** fight that the only option is to cheese it. No accomplishment, no relief, nothing. Also, just looked it up to see if there was a way to do it early and they say do it offline. The invaders summoned will be more generic or something. Sounds like they'll be easier.

I just went back later, after my intitial stumbling into it and figuring it out but it sounds like if you try it offline they'll use generic equipment. Might still be tough though. Sounds like if your online they use loadouts from pvpers or people that have done it. It's also different loadouts each time you try. It's interesting.

After going circles around Leyndell for over an hour I finally think I found the route to the boss. I already got to the invisible barrier that says "Sealed by Morgott" or something.
But I feel like an idiot, I had totally missed and walked right past it an hour ago. (the huge winding tree branch leading up)
I got to that spot and went past it towards the two big brute enemies and killed them but was stumped as to why there was really nothing all the way over there as I was assuming it was the boss room. Then I started scouring the whole city. Only other place I haven't fully explored yet was the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds. I went through a lot of it, but there's some areas I haven't yet figured out how to get to. Will save that for another time since it now seems to be optional anyways.
Unfortunately not enough time tonight to start on the boss, but at least I found it.
Also, this area is chock full of runes. I must have leveled up 5 times since I've been here.

Luckily it wasn't a total waste of time as i did find loads of items and never lost any runes thankfully. Just a little frustrated as my time is at a premium right now and i hate not making any progress.

I could be wrong and was just getting there at the right location though.
I know the feeling. Think I wrote about that fight earlier. Had 2 of 3 down and then last guy did a jumping attack. For some reason I thought attacking him would knock him out of it. NOPE. There goes the rest of my health. That was a bummer of a try for me.
Hopefully you can get it at some point soon if she doesn't show up at the Roundtable for you.
Just been running around mopping some stuff up. Got to the Ghosty town in the Consecrated Snowfields in terms of actual progression. Saw a couple spots on the maps I never ran around in so I did some visiting of old sights. Found out I completely overlooked the entire introduction to Perfumers area.Just been running around in full Guardian attire with the Marais mask on and dicking around with the faith fists for shits and giggles while I'm in the lower level areas.

I loaded up after it patched this morning, in Leyndell. I haven’t noticed much difference with the gear I’m using on my new build.
Enemies (Erdtree Avatar) can still stand in one spot and spam AOEs.
Game is still hitching.
Couldn’t switch weapons for about 30 seconds during combat - this is frustrating. I very deliberately distanced myself from the knight and could not get switching from talisman to sword to happen.
The game locked up on me as well, during exploration. I had to pull up the task manager and kill it.
So basically business as usual.
I do wish they would focus on the larger issues, optimizing to get rid of the hitching / stuttering etc rather than weapons. I don’t think that worrying about how players kill each other in pvp should be the main focus.
Oh, the jellyfish shield still rocks.
Edit: Good video detailing some of the major patch changes - nothing really spoilery

Hmmm... I wanted to upgrade my new shield and lacked smithing stones... so thought, alright... time to deal with those bearings. Maybe I already have it? To the twins... no bearings. Hmm... where is it then?

"BUT I FINISHED THAT FIGHT! what the hell?"
Then I was just browsing though the patch list.
Fixed a bug that sometime prevented the player from obtaining item after boss battle.
Increased the drop rate of Smithing Stone for some enemies
Added Smithing Stone to some early game shop line up.
Increased shield’s effectiveness
Increased the damage for all offensive cracked pot items
Increased FP consumption and lower duration of Ash of War, Barricade Shield
Decreased Ash of War, Hoarfrost Stomp's damage and increase cast timeA hobbiest foundry and forge in progress, plans, suppliers, showcasing ideas

Looking at the patch notes, I like the addition of NPC markers on the map. I'm not one that thinks the game needs a full quest journal system like other RPGs, but I think they could do a little more here in this department. Keeping track of quests has always been tough in Souls games but the size and scope of Elden Ring makes it even more daunting.
Would have liked a step further with that though. At the very least I would have liked to see some sort of notes journal added to the menu. For example, when you meet an NPC with a quest it could add a note for that person and what they said. That's all. Would at least help you not forget about them, while still keeping things obscure. Otherwise I am writing my own notes like its 1995. I get it, From Soft likes to keep things old school but there's certain things they can modernize and still keep their eccentric reputation. I guess in a way the NPC markers accomplish some of this so that's good.

I love the new NPC markers too. I actually got a little excited and thought I might be able to fast travel right to the NPC.That would be too TOO easy though lol.
Either way I’ll be playing this game for a long time, and it’s perfectly playable as is, so there’s that. I can deal with odd quirks here and there in a title like this
Edit: I might still grab it on PS5 just to have it. I game on a laptop, so if any component I can’t replace goes, I’m out of luck until I get it repaired/replaced, and I need my game time.

I just took out the main boss of Leyndell on the first attempt. I must be OP for this area now (level 83). My meteoric ore blade is still only +6 though, although I have INT at 26 now which it scales (slightly) with.
Yay finally off to a new area. Was kind a bit tired of this place.
Also, I am thinking of picking up the uchigatana just so I have another katana that I can buff. Not sure where it is though. I bet its near the starting area and I just missed it somehow. I'll probably just look it up.

I read that stutterig/hitching post-patch could be due to shaders being re-cached, it was told that game patches and GPU driver updates would cause this.
Is it getting any better after playing for a while? My main concern was the occasional whole second freezes that actually get me killed, I can deal with stuttering.
