Anyone made it to (I don’t know if names ought to be spoiler tagged??) Ruin Strewn Precipice

Rather intense area with another cool moveset sword and a fun boss fight. Old Dark Souls type fun boss fight

And after coming out of there I found out it’s an alternate way to reach an area I had already been to.

Love how this game gives varied paths/routes to areas, each so different

Ugh... spent too long farming the Flame Monk set. For what reason? Don't rightly know. The mace isn't bad though, so I upgraded that just so I had a one handed striker. Item discovery suuuuucks.

Not sure where to head after the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, so I'm just gonna wander and see what happens. Probably explore more in the two zones I have been working on.

Just opened up a tunnel for one of my bros.

Wondering why one of the guys at the Roundtable disappeared. Don't know if I fubared a quest or not.

I just ran into a boss that summons minions, but you can’t use yours in the fight. And he has a massive health pool. No thanks

Also just had one of the coolest looking enemies I’ve seen in a game yet drop on me for a fight - he disappeared after I took his hp down about 10%…..I think I know what’s going on. If so this could be really wild.

Also scored an armor set that, minus helmet, looks just like Eileen in BB.

        Fashion Souls is back lol.

So not all optional bosses are just for fun? I’m guessing I need to find the same items from other optional bosses to unlock higher tier stones…

It’s really nice that optional bosses actually have a reason
lol I just took out that asshole. Didn't know it was him till I got the smithing bell bearing. One of those glowing zombies that the candelabra trees summons lead me to the cave. Was a long way down.

Relieves me cause I'm piling up higher quality stones and I don't know what I actually want to use them on. Especially since I'm not seeing many level 1 smithing stones anymore. I keep picking up level 3 stones and am thinking I should be upgrading my weapons higher than +3 at the moment. I haven't even used a level 2 stone.

Still not sure if I should take the plunge and upgrade the scythe some more.

Mmmmmm, a hoonter must hoont. I miss Eileen.

If you revisit mines that you cleared, materials often respawn it seems. And the mines with specialty stones always seem to have standard upgrade materials too.

I’m hoping that’s intentional and won’t be patched out. It would make sense because From Soft would want players to try a variety of weapons….I hope lol.

I’ve noticed something that’s….annoying. Spear wielding enemies are much harder to dodge/evade in a certain area. It seems that once an enemies prepares to lunge, I’m locked into not being able to roll away, almost like a grab attack hit box, if that’s the right term.

I thought it was just me being not good at it, but I tested a few times and it definitely seems broken. The spears (long branches actually) have a ton of fire and blood magic attacks…I wonder if it has to do with that really wide area they cover.

            Meh…murder them later lol.

respawning material is nice to have but you can buy almost every kind of material (later on) so it's not really necessary to rely on respawn alone.

Revisiting areas though is highly recommended for other reasons

                It sure is.

One thing I wish I had done much earlier…take notes.

I'm of the opinion that names aren't spoilers. They're meaningless to anyone that hasn't run into them, and not a reveal to people that have. If you talk about a STRATEGY of dealing with something or a secret/choice you make, that should be spoiler tagged.

Beat Margit (had been avoiding the obvious gameplay path to build up some strength first) and got my Roundtable invite. Working my way up the castle... died to an optional boss. Doh. Now I need to get back in there and recover my runes (and open the chest.)

I find that really irritating that this ability can only be used in specific circumstances. Hey, let me blow through my FP on junk fights if I want to.

I shouldn’t be surprised, but I haven’t really re-explored at different times of day to look for changes.

That’s my thoughts on the spoilers too, just wanted to be safe.

On getting the runes back..have you, anyone noticed anything different with tougher fights and getting them back?

I noticed the more I have to go back, the fewer runes there are. During one fight, when I grabbed them, the number was at zero.

I don’t know if it’s a new mechanic or what, or if there’s a way around it other than just getting better and not dying as much….

let me put it this way, apart from other (often tougher) enemies at night some NPCs apparently prefer the nighttime over the blinding daylight.

So, putzing down in one of the wells at the moment. Just gotta say, these guys spamming horn bow attacks are absolute bullshit. They hit you with a super fast projectile from across the map without line of sight for half your health. Seriously, love getting hit from 500 yards when I can't even see the guy cause there's 8 trees in the way. **** these guys are dumb. Not to mention, they love posting multiple ones at the same time.

                            Ugh, well back to it.

I’m on Mt. Gelmir right now, and don’t think I ought to be. But +6 upgrade materials are here. And I can get them. I think…..

Sofria River you betcha. Lit all the fires and got the lost graces available to me. So it's just seeing what happened with the lit fires or unlocking the lift and hopefully not having to deal with the aim bots for a bit.

No idea, I had to look up the debuff of the first red square one that I got from The HuggingTM. It's probably one of the few things I look up at the moment just because there's no indication anywhere of what things are. Would be nice if you could look at your status and it'd list things even in a vague-sy souls game way.

I bolted past the archers. I just can’t play through rapid fire aim bot attacks like that and still hope to enjoy the area.

I’m also beginning to be at peace with just forgetting some bosses, instead of my usual “have to kill ‘em all” OCD.

The last one I fought (optional) summoned in 6 archers, no biggie. Kill archers > fight boss. No…he summoned 6 hatchet guys who ran after me the whole time. Small arena, so there’s not much distance and by the time I tried to heal, or get my summons off, I’m under stun lock spam attack. If I’m anywhere near the boss, he just chain attacks both melee and AOE until I’m dead.

Sorry not sorry - sucky boss design.

Haha yeah, I Leroy Jenkin's passed them to light a couple of the fires, wasn't worth the frustration. Managed to find out what the fires unlocked. Still debating on the lift. I'm stingy with consumables as I have no idea just how rare things are. Have 8 stonesword keys and 3 imbued, but hell if I know just how many are needed and to save some for some other time.

Right now it's either I use two keys and see what the lift holds, or go back to Hogwarts and try to figure out how to take the water wheel down. A certain someone mentioned that there's something down there. And while I don't trust him further than I could throw him, it should at least be interesting.

Also found the Bloodflame Blade Incantation a while ago, it's pretty funny to add it to my grave scythe and walk around with a flaming scythe.

Have you tried the zombie pikemen? There's two and they keep kind of half ass respawning. Might help keep some of those summons distracted.

                                      love the pic

I have the zombies, but haven’t tried them yet. The jelly fish has been my default for single enemies and the nobles for multiple easy enemies, but I’ll give the zombies a go

I’ve also seen some massive nods to other Fromsoft games, from buffs to enemy types - kind of cool fighting them at 60fps

This game has it all - even ladies dancing at a party, but they tried to gut me when I tried dancing with them. Can’t blame them, I am old and can’t dance

I’m also lost and resisting the urge to look up route progression. I’ve open 2 more massive maps and…..left or right? Either way I die

Finally getting some good sorcery spells for my Astrologer. Went back and finished off a couple difficult dungeon boss's and two Evergaol boss's (the arena boss's). One was still difficult the Crucible Knight , but the other one I killed the Ancient Hero first try before it used any special attacks.

I have to get more of those done, some good loot to be had.

I just went into, and then back out of the Ainsle river…I couldn’t find a path through even though the map showed it, and SO many annoying enemies lol.

                                          Catch it later…

you are free to use them, you can buy them later on. I'd suggest you "finish" one area after another though, no point on spending your hard earned stuff all across the map. I can understand the urge to skip areas to get even better stuff, but you'll miss a lot of cool and good stuff that way.

The zombie pikemen are really useful, not because they are strong or anything, but because they are able to respawn endlessly.

As usual, that's just my 2cents

Good to know. I've used some so far, but it's kind of hit and miss when I do use them. Ended up looking up how many imbued ones there were Seems that I somehow have all of them at the moment. Been to the Belfry place, but didn't know if there were more so I didn't use any of them. Also, I'm scared.

Yeah, the zombie guys are pretty good. If you're against a big AoE boss they can get taken out just like normal zombies. If they're hit when they're down they go bye bye. Might actually put some + points into them. So far I haven't upgraded any ashes.

Current Mood: No idea where to go. Perpetually afraid of breaking/missing quests due to Fromsofts esoteric nature so don't know where I should go next. Should I go through the passage I found by the Great Lift? I mean I have a piece of the medallion, should I get the other half or go through the alt route. No idea!

Also, I got to the bottom of the water wheel. The look on my face when the NPC that told me something was down there was correct.

The Dectus lift? It’s cool, but the alternate route is better

I need to visit that waterwheel then? I don’t remember an npc telling me anything there….

lol that is not imparting much confidence. That the place you were talking about earlier fighting guys on strips of ledge?

Yeah, Hint for Waterwheel, at least where you hear the nugget of information The guy who tells you about the "secret" down there is at the Scenic Island grace point. Directly west of the Telescope in Liurnia.

Also, found out I skipped an entire area in Limgrave it looks like. Thought the southern route past the lake would lead me to another high level area and I've avoided it. Decided to have a look see and now I at least got a section I need to work on.

New patch released. About to test performance but doesnt look like any performance fixes aside from "issue where the graphics card was not being used."

Patch 1.02.2 for PC and PS5 available now.

                                                    PC:
-Fixed an issue where the graphics card was not being used, resulting in slow performance.
-Fixed a bug that caused the game to quit under certain conditions during a battle with the Fire Giant.
                                                    -Fixed other bugs.

Oh the ledge fights are much farther east. The alternate for where you’re going is isn’t that bad really.

Thanks for the tip - I’ll look him up

I finally found the story path, so that’s good, but even though my maps are loaded with markers, I still feel like I’m missing a lot.

As of a couple hours ago I still have hitching.

The other…issue…is disappearing dragons. The first time I thought it might be a story thing. It disappears and then ambushed me later, but that never happened.

Fought another tonight and after 20-30% hp loss, it disappeared too. No runes for it, no indication what happened.

The first 2 I killed no problem.

So as near as I can tell I’m probably near the halfway point in the game as far as the main story goes. Overall, keeping it as un-biased as possible, it’s a solid 7/10.

Major props for world design, weapon/armor variety and enemy variety.

Dings for poorly designed bosses, because the majority of main story bosses just aren’t that great, dings for optimization, and I will always ding any souls title for the invasion mechanic, always.

There’s obviously more behind my thoughts on this, but it doesn’t matter in the long run sooo….

I get that people love PvP, but these people are dedicated to create incredibly optimized builds just to **** with players that aren't interested. I just want to fight boss's with friends in coop.

Also, most of my invasions have been people that just run and roll-spam. Most of the time I'll give up and just stand still, letting them have the kill, because it actually gets boring. Good job buddy.

Players need to opt into invasions by using the Taunter's Tongue item. Of course there will still be NPC invasions, but they are scripted to certain areas/situations.

At least From made it possible to enjoy the world solo online here, but I would rather be able to co-op without dealing with an unwanted player.
