I suppose a long time ago, porting a PS exclusive was more of a headache than it was worth, because a Playstation was pretty far from PC hardware. Porting has become easier, and console exclusives like Dark Souls that made the jump to multiplatform (very) successfully have shown how the market reacts.

Having timed exclusives for one, two or even three years could be very interesting for Sony. Essentially, you'd be looking at the market of gamers with high end hardware, and that's exactly the market that wouldn't necessarily be caught in the Playstation world anyway.

Days Gone PC Edition Listed on Amazon France

"Days Gone PC edition and Persona 5 Royal PC edition might be actually happening. The two listings appeared on Amazon France, though it doesn't have any other details for the time being such a release date or pricing.

Of course, there is always a chance it may be a clerical error, but the history of Amazon France listings suggests it most likely isn't. The retailer previously leaked several game announcements such as Rise of the Tomb Raider PC, Injustice 2 PC, and most importantly Horizon Zero Dawn PC."(full article)

NOTE: Sega says Persona 5 listing for PC on Amazon France is 'an error'
"I reached out to Sega about Persona 5 Royal, who told me "That listing is an error and we’re looking into having it taken down and how it happened." (full article)

I hope it's true I want to play Days Gone but at the same time don't want to play it on the PS4.

I really hope at some point Sony puts all games on PC, even if it's a year behind PS4/5 release.

        I can wait (except FF7)

Even Super Mario Odyssey was listed, so they are all most likely fake.

Uncharted and Last of Us on PC would be amazing. Man, I really hope so.

Personally, since I don't mind to wait, I might never buy another ps again, and I had plans to buy 5 on release. Anyway, will happily put PS5 money into a gpu, long live PC the king.
I think it makes sense, if they want to attract PC gamers to buy a PS5. Offer last-gen games on PC to get people to love the IP, then dangle the sequels as PS5 exclusives... I bet a fair number of PC gamers will bite.

Demon's Souls trailer mentions a PC version

The latest trailer for Demon's Souls (link) (UPDATE - Sony removed the trailer from their official channel) mentions a PC version at the end. No word from Sony yet as to whether it's an error on their part.

Edit: Other channels still have the trailer for now

PC MASTER RACE RISE UP AND FACE YOUR MAKER!!!!

It IS a timed exclusive so maybe they dont know if PC counts for that.

Theres so many ports to PC with this generation of games....i dont think i'll need another console (just have a switch, and its fine by me)

Demon's Souls won't be coming to PC after all. Sony claims it was a mistake due to "human error"... Pretty big error.

i don't think sony will release Demon's souls / GOW etc. They need to keep the PS 5 exclusivity imho. That is their golden ticket to keep selling PS4/5 etc.

                                That is just my pov.

With the recent announcement that "a whole slate" of PS games are coming to PC this year (link), there's multiple possible reasons to give for the move, but the obvious one is: profit. As some have pointed out, Microsoft is making huge bank with their games on Steam, and Sony wants a piece of the pie.

"In 2020 Microsoft / Xbox had 6 published games make the Best Selling Games of the Year list on Steam"(source)

Of course there's the PR line: "There’s an opportunity to expose those great games to a wider audience and recognise the economics of game development, which are not always straightforward. The cost of making games goes up with each cycle, as the calibre of the IP has improved. Also, our ease of making it available to non-console owners has grown. So it’s a fairly straightforward decision for us to make." (source)

And as expected, there's a lot of people naturally going "omg bloodborne!!!omg!!omg", even though From has completely refused to do any more development on the title, including *allegedly* refusing to assist Sony with a pro patch of the game. I do hope it comes to PC, it was a masterpiece of a game and I'd love more people to be able to experience it.

I will add that the only reason this is even a consideration now, is because both Sony + Microsoft went x86 last generation.

Otherwise there would be more development costs going to PC.

You still see PS4 ports exhibit weird behaviour on PC, like high PCI bandwidth use (the PS4 doesn't have enough memory so keeps streaming stuff in order to save memory).

I would really caution people from buying Days Gone. It is a decent game but I can't see myself paying full $50 or $60 for it. For reference I paid $20 for it on PS4 and finished it and recouped $17 back by reselling it. It is quite a forgettable experience and really marred with lots of game design choices that kill the fun.

Got it for free on PS5 and enjoying it due to higher res and FPS. But I do agree, it is a generic open world game that looks nice. Then again, a lot of open world games are generic and fun for some of us.

The story in Days Gone was phenomenal. I played it on my PS5 and it was easily one of the best games I've played in the last few years. Ghost of Tsushima was better, but that isn't a knock on Days Gone.

It's not a perfect game, but I would have paid $59.99 for it if it wasn't free on PSN.

From what I've gathered, days gone is a game that benefited a lot from patches, so people playing it early on might have a completely different impression than people who played it one year later.

I reread my comment and realized it didnt sound like the sarcasim it was meant to be. I meant before sony did their bringing games to pc shtick, Helldivers was ALREADY on pc, it originally released on pc for ****s sake... How is it being brough to to pc from playstation? Thats a rediculous thing for them to suggest.

...this game (days gone) is very underrated imo. sort of reminds me of the whole amalur thing. I also think people suffer from fatigue when it comes to post apocalyptic, open-world games. Another tiring trope are zombie games themselves. Not much you can do in the way of variety if the enemy are zeds . Plus Deacon was a pretty good protagonist imo. His friendship with Boozer can really be felt. For anyone who has not played it, I'd say give it a go.

I think I played it last year and it was still with some bugs. Other than that, as I said the design choices were poor (like loadouts, skill tree, the way monsters respawn all the time etc). I also didn’t find the story all that compelling plus the voice acting was quite poor.

I can see how the game can become easy mode on PC though.

What was wrong with the skill tree? Handful of useful skills, handful of useless skills.. seemed about normal. Some of the skills were pretty good; anything reducing recoil was great.

The guns were a bit questionable but I liked that it forced you to make a decision on how you wanted to play, and if you thought a different way might be better for the upcoming mission, it was always easy to swap out.

Monsters respawning made sense though; they explained in the story why, and I thought that was a lot better than 90% of games that just do it with zero reason/explanation.

I would argue most skills were useless. I know recoil ones were good but most of the health related were largely underwhelming.
I would also argue that most guns were useless. I literally played the whole game with assault and a sniper. Sniper was also largely useless as most monsters closed in after first shot. Was ok with people enemies.
It took them ages to give you a way to take out a horde. I think 2/3rd of the way through or also detonators.
Some of the horde missions were incredibly poorly designed in terms of spaces. I believe the saw mill one was the worst and another one in the cave with a hidden enemy and then a horde.
Most of the save locations were also poor but I think they fixed it in some patches later on (can’t remember).

Aiming on PS4 was also pretty bad and gun accuracy was largely atrocious.
Inventory management system was also tedious especially maintaining the bike.

The voice acting was one of the worst and typically voice sound level was below music sound level and difficult to hear. Main character also felt like had a range of a plank with either shouting or speaking overly softly that you can’t hear. On the story it made no sense that you could go from one camp to other and people used to act as if nothing happened. Some of the snipers on the roads were also ridiculous as they could snipe you while you were going full blast on your bike.

Overall I give the game a 7/10. It was nothing new or revolutionary and was typically poor in all aspects of gameplay that I found. The gunplay wasn’t tight, the driving wasn’t tight, the AI wasn’t good and the graphics were meh. It had a lot of potential IMO but fell short on everything for me.

If you enjoyed it? That’s great.

                                                                  Comment
