    Spellforce 3

the game has officially released. its getting some good reviews also. strange to hear doug cockle's voice detached from geralt .

SpellForce 3 has delivered on the potential it showed while still in development.
definitely don't hear that labeled onto many games these days.

SpellForce 3 has a campaign that is roughly thirty hours, but it can be extended well beyond that with the numerous side quests and ability to dive deep into outpost management.
2017 was already a great year for RPGs and Spellforce 3 adds another entry on an already impressive list as the year comes to a close.

Definitely on my list. i came to spellforce 1 late, but i loved spellforce 2. Such awesome coop campaign, which is missing from this one, but still awesome

this, and heroes of annihilated empires, i wish more rts would try things like this.
Never put off tomorrow what you can put off today!

i'm still waiting on a rts/rpg hybrid along the lines of a skyrim. adding large-scale rts battles to a game like skyrim is definitely win/win. the whole civic war line was rather nerfed considering the scale limitation. but having done that battle in an rts scale = epic

Looking good, prices are all over the place, strange. (25 bucks to 49, wtf??)

Also got VERY mixed reviews so far. Seems to be loaded with bugs

SpellForce 2 was a bugfest as well. I won't touch SF3 for another few months.

the reviews i read were mostly positive. they ranged from mid 70's to a few 90's . granted rts games always have lots of bugs. even divinity 2 is still getting bug-fix patches.

              Just an example ...

Spellforce 3 in the test: bugs prevent play through
The first few hours of Spellforce 3 could be played without major problems, there were hardly crashes, the occasional performance slumps were not nice, but still bearable. Only after about ten hours were more serious bugs noticeable. So we came across a room exit that could not be activated, a Plotstopper. Only by clicking around like mad the door was became activated - why? We do not know until today. Later we had to free prisoners from their cells, but they did not want to budge. Shortly thereafter, we wanted to convince four orc tribes of our worth by defeating some of their strongest warriors, which we did - but the side quest never completed. From here it became increasingly worse: Some dialogues broke off abruptly and left NPCs useless in the back, the task was not solvable at this point. Delayed quest markers and incorrect progress points on the map "Farlornsheim" finally made it clear: Spellforce 3 could not be played any further in the test.
The good thing is that the new Team Grimlore Games promised to fix all the bugs, but to be honest i'll believe it when i see it, until then i'm very very cautious.

the devs posted a message at the steam forums regarding pre-release version. they basically said they were aware of the bugs in the pre-release version that was being played by people prior to official release. they also indicated the day-one patch would fix most of them *shrugs*. i noticed a second patch has been released already too.

My copy glitches out and locks the mouse before i can start the game. It works a little in the menus, and then just stops. The game will ntop force close, and i have to do a hard rebott to end it. Logging off doesnt work either. Quite a bug. Ill check back in a week or so.
                  my graphics card is now a physx card ;

that definitely sucks . hope they clear that up very quickly!

update - the devs have released a patch everyday since release.

I've only played a few hours so I can't say much about the gameplay, but damn this game is purdy. Best looking RTS ever?

It's very demanding in some spots though... giving my Xeon 1231 and GTX 1070 all they can handle!
