Mass Effect 2 & 3 receive incredible 4K Texture Packs

Looks nice enough but for some reason this has much less impact on the overall look to me than say an Oblivion texture pack did.

It's a nice improvement, but didn't exactly blow me away.

I never did play Mass Effect 2 or 3. Really feel like I missed out. Is it worth going back and playing them at this point, or have they not aged well and best to just jump to the latest one?

Oh yes, do play them, ME2 is the best in the series and Origin had it on the house a few months back. I may have an extra key for it that KAC donated and I never used as it was for Steam. Hit me up if u want it.

These new textures are nice, but honestly it's a testament to how good the original game looked. The art direction is top notch for sure.

Only 2 is a must play for me. If you only have time for one of the games in the series make sure its ME2.

What I remember most from ME1 was all the time boring time spent in the Mako. :/

Well you can get Andromeda for 16 at cdkeys and for that price there's lots to be had.

Yeah, I picked it up cheap fully expecting it to be horrible based on what I had read. It actually ended up being an engrossing game...forget its Mass Effect ties and just play it for its own sake.

I enjoyed Mass Effect Andromeda also. It was a great game, despite alot of the negative feedback.

Of course I waited months after release, pretty much all the bugs/animations were fixed by then.

I expected some massive grinding like Dragon Age Inquisition, but never got bored of the worlds.

I liked ME:A. Part of my post upon completing it about 3 months ago:

"Completed this today after 100+ hours, (almost) 100% everything, from the magnificent set pieces to the pointless fetch quests. Going against the hive mind, I thought this was a great game. I heard about the backlash against the game in the weeks after it's release but avoided any info on it, I waited a few months till it was patched up a bit and went in blind without any high expectations. I went into this game with the mentality of 'I'm going to be playing a sci-fi game, hope it's cool', rather than 'I'm going to be playing a mass effect game, this better be good', and I enjoyed it throughout from start to finish"

The full post is here in the andromeda thread.

I'm not sure 2 will make sense without playing the first one. I really think if someone is going to play the ME series they should just start with the first. If you avoid the side missions ME1 also isn't really that long.

Honestly, just play number 1 and call it a day. You won't miss much and actually have more closure than what people who have played the complete series have now

KAC is right in this case. 3 was the best play/story of the series. Horrid ending. 2 was good all around. 1 shows off the age of the engine used, but the story was top notch and it has a definite end.

Andromeda isn't nearly as bad as everyone has made it out to be. Different enough to be cool, a tad cliche (what game isn't these days), and after fixing faces so the women look like professionals not whores or drag queens the game is quite pleasant to look at. I still rate it a solid 8/10.

I wonder why the texture packs are only for ME2 & 3?

The best to me is mass effect 1 why? was the first i played, the one that caught my attention to the series, and also the most RPG like one, the second and third were too action oriented to my tastes and the third one end did disappoint.

Also ASCI BLUE the engine is the same for all games, they were all made in Unreal 3 engine, the first seams to have worse textures but in reality that is caused by a bug in the texture streaming, after a small fix the blurred textures go away, look on the net for it, they fixed this particular bug in the next games, they do look better still but is comum practice to make the next game in the series look slightly better, even if the engine was perfectly able to do it in the past game, is just a marketing trick to make your new game look fresh and modern and not having to spend money making a new engine for every single game you make.

I don't recall blurred textures in the first game aside the Film Grain setting which can be switched off. I also have it on 360 rather than PC because I didn't have a desktop at the time.

While all UE 3, they are different versions of the engine. Which suggests that additional things were added later hence 2 and 3 looked substantially different especially in faces.
